Wearing a mask is essential for all age groups, especially those over 50. We are more vulnerable to severe illness and complications from COVID-19. The national health emergency may be over but taking simple precautions still makes sense. My latest blog article explores the evidence, and you can read it here.

The national COVID-19 emergency is ending, but still, there are lingering questions. One of the biggest debates has been the use of masks; many states are dropping their mandatory masking requirements. While some believe that masks are essential in preventing the spread of the virus, others argue th...

The story of COVID is still being written, but we’ve learned much already. In my latest blog article, I discuss the “Vax and Pax” and how they’ve reduced the severity of the illness for millions. They may not be the miracle we might have wished for, but in the COVID story, they were heroes that saved the day. I include the Vax & Pax toolkit that AMDA just published, which thoroughly covers what we know about preventing and treating COVID.

I was quoted today in the New York Times -- “People are thinking, ‘I got the shot, and I still got Covid, so what’s the point?’ They aren’t thinking about the fact that they got Covid and lived.” -- December 21, 2022 --

Nearly all Americans over 65 got their initial Covid vaccines. But that immunity is waning, and this time, the government is offering far less support for new shots.

You'll often hear me talk about America's other drug problem: polypharmacy. 1/3 of people over age 65 take five or more prescription medications daily. Are we over-medicating our most vulnerable? Is this necessary?

Today I'm beginning a series in my blog on polypharmacy. In this post, I'm introducing the problem. In future articles I'll explore the reasons, some results, and my own experiences in deprescribing. I encourage you read this first post.

COVID has been getting all of the attention recently, but this looks like the worst flu season in more than a decade. This year, more than ever, protect yourself, and those around you, and get the flu vaccine. https://wp.me/pbcd7y-5J

Sometimes a movie comes along where the supporting actor steals the show — like Octavia Spencer in The Help or Jennifer Hudson in Dreamgirls. COVID has had the spotlight for nearly three years, but this winter, it looks like influenza will steal the show. The flu season has come early,

We all want COVID to be over, but the elderly are still getting it and dying. I’ve posted a new blog article urging people to get the booster vaccination and telling people about it. Having the booster will slow transmission of the virus and protect our most vulnerable from getting sick. Read the article at: https://drvonpreyss.com/get_the_booster
