“Yoga improves balance, strength, endurance, and aerobic capacity in children. Yoga and mindfulness offer psychological benefits for children as well. A growing body of research has already shown that yoga can improve focus, memory, self-esteem, academic performance, and classroom behavior, and can even reduce anxiety and stress in children.”

It takes practice. Maybe the first time you catch yourself is after years and years of negative self talk. The next time might be after many days of it, then hours later, then minutes later, then during the thought, and pretty soon, noticing just the trigger without getting triggered. It’s a long process but the work is important because our collective well-being hinges on it. As the popular saying goes: “Hurt people hurt people.”

“This is also our story. We are riding a horse, we don’t know where we are going, and we can’t stop. The horse is our habit energy pulling us along, and we are powerless. We are always running, and it has become a habit. We struggle all the time, even during our sleep. We are at war within ourselves, we can easily start a war with others.”
