Mother’s Day is complex for me.

Rejection, Sadness, Remorse, Longing….

My Mother is a complicated human who seemed more jealous of me than proud.

She will not talk to me about anything of depth.

I understand there will be a day that she will be gone and I will miss her. I have tried and I do try to be a good daughter regardless of her inability to be a good mother for me.

The dysfunction has passed down through the generations. I attempt to stop it. Nobody hears me when I shout, this doesn’t work. Nobody hears me when I whisper, this doesn’t work. Nobody hears me and the silence is deafening….dysfunction.

She told me once she puts the fun is dysfunction. She was drunk of course because that is how she does life. Through the blur of beer.

I am grateful that I continue to speak my truth.
I am grateful my daughters can make different choices.
I am grateful tomorrow is a new day.
