The Third Nipple

The Third Nipple Scientists looking for people born with fewer or more than two nipples or other differences Almost every person is born with two nipples.

However, some people are born with an extra nipple, called a “third nipple” or a "supernumerary nipple," or even more nipples, elsewhere on their chest or abdomen. And some people are born with just one or no nipples at all. Very little is known about the genes that control nipple number, placement, and formation. The Third Nipple Project wants to change that. By looking for genetic changes in people with an extra or missing nipple(s), we aim to better understand the genetic basis of nipple number, placement, and formation in humans. If you were born with more or less than two nipples, born with nipples that are located in an atypical location on the chest or abdomen, or with atypical formation, you may be eligible to participate in the Third Nipple Project. Participation is open to everyone regardless of sex at birth. See this link (https://redcap.link/TheThirdNipple) for more information!
