COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY (C.I.T.)
An aesthetic service performed in our office to help improve skin conditions including: wrinkles and fine lines, acne scarring, stretch marks, wound healing, skin tightening, lifting and rejuvenation. C.I.T. utilizes a fine-needling device into the epidermis and dermis. These micro injuries to the skin encourage and harness the power of the body’s innate ability to re-grow and repair the skin through the physiology of collagen induction.
The skin-needling before and afters are typical of a series of treatments where patients experienced three to six treatments over the space of 2 to six months. Each procedure is performed with a topical anesthetic and patients experience only some mild discomfort.
To further enhance the effect of collagen induction and skin rejuvenation, Platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) can be added to the procedure. PRP is obtained from the patients own blood. It is prepared in the lab adjoining our clinic, and then re-injected into areas that have more sun damage, scarring from acne, or parts of the face that would benefit from more volume to help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, sagging of the cheek, a hollowed appearance under the eye, or volume loss in the chin.
The procedure is done in just over an hour. Recovery is quick, with little discomfort or bruising. The procedure uses your own blood products to create a more natural rejuvenation of the skin with some lift and tightening.
