Is It Passion… or Control?

In my 30s, I led global product launches, sat at the table with powerful decision-makers, and kept a packed calendar that made me feel important.

So important, I mistook it for passion.

Passion that made me lose patience quickly.
That demanded excellence.
That talked over others.
That left me drained and resentful.

Sometimes it felt like I was watching a movie.
I didn’t recognize myself.

Who is this person who expects everyone to think and move as fast as she does?
Who dismisses others if they don’t “get it” right away?

What I thought was drive… was actually reactivity.
What I thought was leadership… was me stuck in a survival loop.
And what I thought was passion… was my nervous system in overdrive, my creativity shut down, and my team walking on eggshells.

It wasn’t until I discovered Energy Leadership that I understood:

👉 Your energy is leading the room—even when you don’t mean to.

Now I help conscious, high-performing leaders shift out of pressure patterns and into presence.
To lead with trust, not tension.
To express passion without burning themselves—or their teams—out.

If this feels familiar, drop a 👍🏼 or DM me “ENERGY.”
Let’s explore how your energy is showing up—and what becomes possible when it shifts.

🌿 New on the blog: “Career Pivot? Start with Vision, Not Just a Job Title”

https://www.nishakunder.com/articles/tech-career-pivot-start-with-vision-not-just-a-job-title

In this piece, I share why starting your pivot with vision—not just roles or resumes—is the most regenerative path forward. Especially if you’re someone who cares deeply, thinks holistically, and wants to contribute meaningfully.

I hope it brings you clarity—and a sense of permission to redefine success on your own terms.

Do you remember the first time you went on a hike?

I do.

My first Merrell hiking boots (actually my only one…gotta love shoes, still fits regardless of what my bathroom scale has told me over the years)

A yellow backpack with a hydration pack

This was back in 2009.

Like most New Yorkers who hike, I was headed to the Bear Mountains.

It was such a surreal experience. It didn't take me much time to feel at home amongst those tall green trees, even if I spent my whole life living in concrete jungles.

It's like my soul knew what it needed to feel nourished.

Trees everywhere, providing just enough shade for us hikers and the ferns to thrive. Winding trails lined with wild blueberry bushes. The sweetest berries I ever tasted, which felt like I was sipping on some energy drink while walking. The cold water in the lake where we would soak our feet every time we took a break. And the best part — old and new friends who enjoyed the hike and the conversations as much as I did.

On the subway ride back, I was surprisingly energized and pumped up instead of feeling exhausted after an 8-mile hike.

Now, what if there was a way to feel this way even after a grueling day at work when things don't go your way, or you feel like no one listens to you? Instead of feeling drained, what if there was a way to feel energized?

Well, today is your lucky day!

In Episode 6, I will share just that. How To Powerfully Shift From Victim To Visionary, Part Two. This is the second episode of a three-part series in which I share the wisdom of Energy Leadership and how it can help you become an influential leader without losing your peace of mind.

P.S. I have gone on many hikes since then, but this is one activity that never gets old. Every time I return, I feel energized, nourished, and blessed. How about you? What nourishes and energizes you? Comment below or DM and tell me about it!

Courage and confidence come later; what truly matters is the depth of our beliefs and the extent to which we trust ourselves and others.

In Episode 5 of the Willow Wisdom Podcast, I delve into the essence of my statement by recounting a personal story. This was my first encounter with a challenging situation that required me to be my true self. An experience that helped me build confidence in my capabilities as a leader.

You’ll also learn how to:
* Build trust with those around you.
* Strengthen relationships in both professional and personal spheres.
* Practice empathetic requests for assistance.
* Communicate personal needs effectively.

And an insight into how coaching can support mastery of these skills.

On my way to work, almost wrapping up another early morning meeting (way before these were called Zoom calls), catching glimpses of my favorite mountain –– Mt. Rainier, and carefully sipping some Stumptown coffee, I couldn’t help but wonder…

If only I had the time, then I would:

👉🏼 park my car and watch the golden hue of sunrise wash over the snowcapped mountain,

👉🏼 read that book, I always wanted to,

👉🏼 be a better mom because I would be able to spend more time with my son,

👉🏼 be healthier because I would sleep for at least 8 hours!

When I left my job, guess what, [FIRST NAME GOES HERE]? I finally had all the time I always dreamed of…but what happened within a few months was not what I had expected!

Check out Episode 4 of The Willow Wisdom Podcast to learn more. For the first time, I share the details of my health journey, specifically how I got out of the vicious cycle of poor health and poor sleep.

In this episode, you’ll learn…

✨ what successful leaders focus on managing instead of time

✨ One of the best ways to be more present for people you love

✨ how to make your bedtime rituals even more effective

✨ why do I tape my mouth (and no, it’s not because I talk too much –– nice try)
