The new year began with a meaningful milestone at Franciscan Heart & Vascular Associates at St. Joseph Medical Center, as leaders, caregivers, and partners came together to celebrate the completion of the newly remodeled cardiology clinic.

Selected as one of 12 CommonSpirit Health clinics for renovation, the updated space reflects sustained growth, rising patient demand, and a shared commitment to expanding access to high-quality cardiovascular care. Designed with collaboration in mind, the remodel enhances how teams work together while keeping compassionate, patient-centered care at the heart of everything we do.

This transformation was made possible through incredible teamwork, resilience, and dedication — and it marks an exciting step forward in serving our South Sound community.

The spirit of partnership, advocacy and exceptional care was on full display when Virginia Mason Franciscan Health was honored as the March of Dimes Partner of the Year at the Excellence in Action Awards in Seattle.

Each year, this event brings together nurses, leaders, volunteers and community partners from across Washington to celebrate those who make a profound difference in the lives of mothers and babies. Being recognized among such remarkable individuals made this year especially meaningful
for VMFH, and for the many teams whose efforts helped shape this honor.

Historic milestone for Kitsap County! St. Michael Medical Center officially opened its new patient tower in Silverdale on December 10, marking a transformative moment for healthcare access in the region.

The new North Tower adds 74 beds to the campus, significantly expanding hospital capacity to meet our community's growing needs. This project has been years in the making, following state approval in 2017.

St. Michael operates one of the busiest emergency departments in Washington State, and the new tower will help relieve pressure on emergency services. Combined with upcoming expansions like the hybrid emergency department and urgent care facility in Port Orchard, these investments strengthen healthcare access across Kitsap County.

The increased capacity supports growth in key specialties including spine surgery, orthopedics, OB-GYN, cardiology, gastroenterology, and cancer care.

"We have proudly served Kitsap County for more than 100 years, and our commitment to expand access to care is stronger than ever," said Chad Melton, Interim President, Puget Sound Market, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. "The new tower will bring even more services to patients, ease demand on our emergency department, and create more job opportunities for local residents. I couldn't be more proud of the team for bringing this vision to life and building a stronger foundation for our next 100 years."

This holiday season, we’re celebrating the incredible generosity and compassion of our teams and community partners who continue to make a difference in the lives of others.

Franciscan Medical Group team members came together to collect more than 500 lbs of food for the Auburn Food Bank—ensuring local families have a meal to share this Thanksgiving.

Cheri Robinson, a grateful heart surgery patient at St. Joseph Medical Center, returned this year as Mrs. Claus to deliver cookies and cheer to the care team who helped save her life.

And a heartfelt thank you to Tacoma Police Department, Liz Ann Johnson Elder Law, and our community partners for their generous donations to our NICU families—from handmade blankets to books and snacks that bring comfort during long hospital stays.

Each of these moments is a reflection of our shared mission of humankindness—lifting others through care, compassion, and connection. 💫
