New genetic variant found in those of African ancestry halves viral load.

A genetic variant found by an international team of scientists present only in people of African ancestry seems to halve the set point viral load in people with HIV who are not on treatment. The set point is where viral load stabilises after the early stage of infection, and it determines how fast H...

Long-acting injectable version of the most popular drug combination is possible.

Researchers at the University of Washington in Seattle say they have cracked the challenge of creating a long-acting injectable form of the world’s most commonly prescribed antiretroviral combination, tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, lamivudine and dolutegravir, often known as TLD. But the drawback ...

An HIV vaccine candidate has proved it can guide B-cells, the part of the immune system that makes antibodies, into being able to produce broadly neutralising antibodies (bnAbs) with the ability to block the entry into T-cells of many strains of HIV. Dr Wilton Williams of Duke University described t...

Undetectable = Untransmittable.

The evidence is in: If you are HIV+, take treatment and maintain an undetectable viral load, you can have s*x knowing that you won't pass HIV to your s*x partner. In short, when HIV is undetectable, it's untransmittable.

Undetectable = Uniquely Qualified.
