As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives. - Henry David Thoreau

Invest in yourself first.

Investors and financial planners strongly encourage us to pay ourselves first. They say, “plan for the future now and let that planning grow and appreciate every day so that at some point in the future we can live out our dreams”.

I encourage you to pay yourself first, but with things more valuable than money. Pay yourself with quiet time. Pay yourself with knowing and appreciating yourself. Pay yourself by giving yourself time to communicate on an internal level.

You know yourself best. But to often we have deferred to others to know who we are and what we need. We didn’t start out this way. Slowly over time with input from our families, neighbors, teachers, and friends we developed a sense of self that came from outside. Granted it may not be all wrong, as these people are seeing and reacting to what we put out there for them to see. The problem as I see and experience it is that we then become only what others think of us. We often only look outside for answers. We silence the conscious link with our inner selves.

We have given a louder voice to the language spoken in our heads, and muted the language spoken by our bodies. Anyone with a child will probably share the frustration of not knowing what a crying baby needs. They experiment to see if it needs food, a diaper change, warmth, cooling, or simply touch. Trial and error often leads to the answer. If we listened and reacted to the communication of our body like we do to a child crying maybe our health would follow a very different path.

When you experience the smallest pain or discomfort, go through the trial and error to see what our body is communicating. Stop it from becoming the full blown fit that comes from us putting our pain aside and silencing it with medication.

Listen to your inner self today and every day. Live your dreams of good health daily. It is an investment that will pay you dividends now and into the future.

Have a healthy day!!

Healing Thoughts and Encouragement

I encourage you to listen closely to your body and respond to the whispers. Don't wait for the pain or problem to hit you over the head like a 2 X 4.

I have found that little aches and pains can heal with little effort and time. But the bigger, "louder", and longer the discomfort the bigger, more time consuming, and difficult the healing process will be.

Check in with your body right now! What does it need? Do the best you can to do what it asks as soon as possible. Make it a priority today and you will have less to deal with tomorrow.

Have a healthy day.

Do you take better care of your car than yourself?

Your car has gauges to tell you what is happening with its various functions. You have gauges too. Your nose is a gauge so is your p*e and poo. How about your skin? Is it dry? Oily? Actually, your whole body is a gauge. Do you have pain, tension, soreness, stiffness anywhere in your body? What are these gauges telling you? Is it something you can take care of with a little attention to yourself, or do you need the help of someone else?

Your maintenance schedule can include a good daily diet, regular yoga or qigong, massage, acupuncture, a good nights sleep, regular deep breaths throughout your day, hugging yourself, telling yourself, "good job."

You are probably doing some maintenance; acknowledge what is working for you and pat yourself on the back. Now check in with your gauges. Are they telling you more is needed? Figure out what is needed and take action before the "repair bill" is more than you can afford right now.
