The Governor’s Committee on Disability Issues and Employment provides state level advocacy and leadership with the disability community to obtain equity in economic opportunity and community inclusion. The goal is an equitable Washington where people with disabilities experience full inclusion, full participation and economic vibrancy.

The annual Governor’s Employer Award recognizes and promotes the achievements of employers, organizations and individuals who recruit, hire and promote employees with disabilities.

As acknowledgement of The Hearthstone’s commitment to individuals with disabilities as a valued segment of our workforce, Hearthstone team members Michael Hickey and Nathan Alpaugh accepted our award in the Medium Non-Profit Employer category for our partnership with Northwest Center and our employment of members of their program.

Northwest Center’s mission is to remove barriers to disability inclusion at school, work and in the community. Their services empower people with disabilities from cradle through career and help schools, businesses and the broader community embrace inclusive, anti-ableist practices.

To help seniors make informed decisions about retirement living options, Newsweek partnered with the global research firm Statista to rank America’s Top 250 Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities. Of the approximately 2,000 CCRCs in the U.S., The Hearthstone ranked tenth in the country and first in the state of Washington.

This recognition is not just about scores and rankings. It is acknowledgement of our unwavering commitment to our residents and the broader Green Lake community. We have always known The Hearthstone to be a place where residents not only live but thrive. Now the rest of country knows it too.

O Christmas tree! The Hearthstone's 2022 rooftop tree was officially lit in a ceremony presided over by our executive team and attended by staff and residents. The vocal stylings of Lakeside building residents Don and Pam provided the perfect soundtrack for the festivities.
