Hello, I’m Candice.
Some of you will know me, others we are just meeting. To those who know me, If you haven’t noticed yet, I have changed the name from {Pulan Healing Apothecary} to {Apotheroots}
* I will explain why later in this post. *
(Side note: Even before any of this, I ran a small hobby farm with my husband Manny called {Chappel Chicks Farm}. It did well. It was so much fun. Although it was just a hobby farm, it was A LOT of work but we loved it so much. I found myself taking photos daily and sharing it with the world.
Started out raising chickens (learning so much from my husband Manny regarding raising chickens) eventually gravitated towards making soap; harveting my own herbs such as dandelions, comfrey, lavender, lemon balm, and creating herb infused oils, wax, etc. I was not only good at it but I loved creating.
Of course, life happened and directions of change took place. I took a break from chickens, farming; all of it.
I was also working a fulltime job that I once loved but became unhappy when it became harder to run the farm as well as work at a place where I felt under valued + unappreciated.
I was also going through a many changes. Perhaps this was part of the “spiritual awakening” which taught me the importance of boundaries, and the lack thereof which pushed me to make other choies. (Although, life is about learning and making mistakes).
Pivoting back to Pulan.
I loved the name Pulan. It had great meaning when it was created. Pulan means “Moon, that watches over us” in Chamorro. I am a moon lover and love symbolism spiritually. Pulan’s meaning was perfect + unique. 🌙 All of this change, Manny and I have remained very good friends. If anyone truly proved to be unconditional through it all, it was him. 💞
But the reason, I changed the name is because my original Pulan FB page was hacked back in Nov 2023, as well as my paypal account linked. Somehow, my Chappel Chicks Farm Instagram page (which was not being monitored) is what got stolen thus getting my original personal FB page that I created in 2007 suspended; leaving no access to our farm page. They tried running ads from my Pulan account (in which they changed the name to “fashion woman 2”) out of another country. That was blocked and they were unsuccessful. What’s more frustrating, is they did absolutely nothing creative with the page that I worked so hard to build.
With all that going on, as well as a huge career shift (as I did become a FT traveling Phlebotomist) I ended up stepping away from social media.
I supposed it was meant to be; taking that hiatus. The break, allowed me to work on me.
Secondly, I have decided that {Apotheroots} was a better description of what I am creating! A rooted approach to healing; paired with the wisdom of nature. I have a few book ideas, classes, + more luxurious products being formulated.
You wouldn’t know this by just looking at me but I have Cherokee Indian lineage on my biological Fathers side. (That’s whole other story)
It is something I’ve been exploring for a while because it’s who I am. It’s in my blood. I never knew about it growing up. I desire to understand and continue to nurture and explore this side of me.
It truly started making so much sense once I found this out.
