The esophagus lies just in front of the cervical and thoracic spinal column. The trachea sits just in front of the esophagus. Breathing and digestive issues can be positively effected by flowing and opening movements of the tongue, neck and chest. They also loved to be closed too, just only 1/2 the time. To elaborate a bit further for those who can sit through just a tad bit more of transformative information, the esophagus is covered in vagus nerve vines. The vagus nerve controls much of of our organ (visceral) function. Have a great day.

I once had a fellow running buddy say to me "once your knees go, its all over." That struck a cord in me to really understand if that old adage was just a bunch of bullmurky. Turns out that it is true, that adage is bullmurky and the knees have a great propensity for healing, vibrant cartilage rotational excellence and ligament torque. This is just a small window into the gem of a our spiraling lower limb joint connection.

Lets talk about getting back to earth. While not all of us might not have access to the green space in our neighborhoods, lets get down in our souls and access what we do have. Lets start with our toes. Embryology, acupuncture and reflexology all point us into the fact that our toes are deeply connected to our brains, breath, teeth, throat, ears and eyes. That indicates that our senses are deeply rooted in the root of our bodies. Next time you walk, run, skip, hop, dance, skateboard, balance or tiptoe, mabye try to feel and engage your pointers without clenching them.

As many of us are beginning to recognize the medical world as only a world of make believe for profit and our physical and mental issues continue to be chronic and deterioration, I propose a new paradigm based on anatomy books and the kaleidoscopic intellengence of ancient human public health; yoga, belly and Africian dance and the many beautifully grounding energetic martial arts practices. I will start with the African dance that I have been studying with Lara McIntosh, Wassa Dance, since she has been a lead and inspiration of somatic embody of healthy movement. In her last class, she made the bold mutinous statement to relax the tops of your feet to feel the engagement of the bottoms. I could feel the whole class in confusion as if they were just given permission to do something so against everything we have learned in life which is tighten and freeze to perform. Personally, I was electrified as I have been trying to get my patients to engage there 26 foot bones for years but never thought about the fact that you need to let go before you try something new. Thank you Lara from every foot and hamstring heart string since the bottom of the foot and the hamstrings do share the same nerve (sciatic nerve). To engage and not chronically atrophy and tighten is the future of our posterior legs and bottoms of feet. Tell Niki, your choosing to now run foot naked like instead of expensive high arched sneakers, understanding that the true arch is the arch between the toes and forefoot. Interesting that this relationship in reflexology is the brain and body connection. Feel your bottoms of your feet and your hamstrings engage. You will be amazed at your revitalized power of the back and bottom of our bodies. Enjoy
