🌟 Meet one of our newest interns! 🌟

It's been a while since we've had the pleasure of introducing a new member, we're thrilled to shine the spotlight on someone exceptional. Join us in welcoming our talented intern clinician, who joined us this winter!

Angelina (she/her) is a BIPOC individual who works through an intersectional feminist lens where everyone receives respect and equitable treatment regardless of demographic. Passionate about the power of art and nature, she believes that the merging of psychology, ecology, and art is imperative in balancing our mental well-being while embracing a relationship with the earth, and a better sense of self. Angelina holds space where an individual may need an alternative way of expression, noting that her work with you is not limited to art or ecotherapy, she just loves it!

Fostering a warm and inviting therapeutic environment with respect to your boundaries and needs through a consent-focused approach - is her commitment to your self-discovery, awareness, creativity, personal transformation, growth, and resilience. Admitting one’s struggles or vulnerability can be challenging while reaching out for support can be even more so. Angelina believes you are the sole expert on your experiences.

Let's give a warm welcome to our intern clinician! You can read more about her approach on our website, which is inked in our bio.

🌍 World Mental Health Day 🧠

Today, we observe World Mental Health Day, a time to reflect on the significance of mental well-being and its impact on our lives.

Let's focus on practical steps:

Raise Awareness: Share information about mental health, its challenges, and how it affects individuals. Knowledge is the first step towards reducing stigma.

Talk Openly: Encourage open conversations about mental well being. A supportive, non-judgmental atmosphere can be vital for those struggling.

Seek Help: If you or someone you know is facing mental health challenges, don't hesitate to seek professional help. Therapy and counseling can make a profound difference.

Self-Care: Prioritize self-care practices, such as regular exercise, proper nutrition, adequate sleep, and relaxation techniques. These can help manage stress and maintain mental well-being.

Reduce Stigma: Challenge stereotypes and misconceptions about mental health. Let's create an environment where individuals feel comfortable seeking help without fear of judgment.

Stay Connected: Maintain social connections with friends and loved ones. Loneliness and isolation can exacerbate mental health issues.

Learn Coping Strategies: Educate yourself and others about coping strategies for managing stress and anxiety. Mindfulness, meditation, and deep breathing techniques can be helpful for some.

Remember, mental health is not a sign of weakness. It's a fundamental aspect of overall health. By prioritizing mental health, we can lead more fulfilling lives and create a more compassionate and understanding society.

Diving into the fascinating world of S*x Therapy – a safe space to explore, learn, and nurture your s*xual well-being.

πŸ’« What is S*x Therapy, Exactly?
S*x therapy is a specialized form of counseling that focuses on addressing concerns related to s*xuality, intimacy, and relationships. Whether you're navigating challenges, seeking deeper connections, or aiming to enhance your overall s*xual wellness, a s*x therapist is your supportive guide on this journey.

πŸ”‘ Key Areas We Explore:

* Communication: Learn to express desires, boundaries, and concerns with your partner(s) openly and empathetically.

* Desire Discrepancy: Understand and bridge the gap when partners have differing levels of s*xual desire.

* Intimacy Enhancement: Explore techniques to foster emotional and physical closeness in relationships.

* S*xual Variance "dysfunction"/Painful In*******se: Learn strategies, obtain resources, and find solutions to overcome physical challenges. (and remember, s*x should not be painful unless both partners consent.)

* Body Positivity or Neutrality: Embrace self-acceptance and confidence, celebrating the uniqueness of your body.

* LGBTQ+ Affirmative Support: Navigating s*xual experiences and relationships within your individual, social, and cultural identities.

Remember, your s*xual well-being matters, and there's always room to learn and grow 🌟 *xualWellnessJourney *xuality

πŸŒˆπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Celebrating Love, Equality, and Diversity! πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈπŸŒˆ

This month, we come together to honor and celebrate the vibrant tapestry of gender and s*xuality that makes up the beautiful LGBTQ+ community. Pride Month is more than just a parade or a celebration; it's a powerful reminder of the journey towards equality and justice that we continue to navigate.

In the face of challenges, including the existence of nearly 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills in state legislatures, it's crucial that we stand united and unwavering in our support. Pride Month serves as a reminder that our fight for equal rights and acceptance is ongoing, and we won't rest until true equality is achieved.

We can celebrate by embracing our LGBTQ+ friends, family, and community members. Let's uplift their voices, recognize their achievements, and create a world where love knows no boundaries.

May is mental health awareness month! As a living human that witnesses the challenges in the world, it can be difficult to manage your mental health while juggling work, relationships, family, pets, and all your other responsibilities. Here are some tips for prioritizing your mental health so you can deal with stressful times more effectively and feel better overall.

Make time for self-care.
It is important to recharge your batteries by incorporating downtime and self-care into your schedule. Give yourself permission to relax, even for a half hour each day. This could be reading, practicing an art, meditating, yoga, exercising, or spending time with friends.

Focus on the present moment.
Practicing mindfulness can be beneficial for your overall mental health. If you tend to have worrying thoughts, bring your attention back to the current moment.

Connect with others.
Stay connected with family and friends by checking in regularly. Maybe there are opportunities to get involved in your local community by attending a class or meetup.

Make time for movement.
If you are able, try to incorporate movement into your daily routine. When struggling with mental stress and overwhelm, you might not feel motivated to do much. However, even some light stretching, going for a walk, or anything that gets your blood flowing can help you feel better mentally and physically.

Prioritize sleep.
Don’t skip on sleep, which can contribute to feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression. Your body and mind need adequate rest each night in order to function properly.

Seek professional support.
Don’t be afraid to take the first step and get the help of a professional counselor. Reaching out to us or other providers in your area to help get access to the support you need.

I believe you as the client are the expert on your own life. For this reason, I tend to work collaboratively with clients to make a plan and work towards your therapeutic goals together. I practice in an eclectic way, drawing from different therapeutic modalities and theories to best suit my client’s needs. Some modalities I use include, Narrative Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, S*x Therapy, Art Therapy, Mindfulness, as well as some somatic approaches. My work is informed by a social justice approach, antiracism, feminist theory, and equity. I am interested in holistic care and intersectionality.
