Check out BIA's Community Hub Virtual Meetup, happening last Friday of each month starting today 4/26 at 12pm.

"We are building a hub for brain injury survivors to network, share stories, events and learn together... This will be a space survivors can come together to discuss classes or tasks they'd like to work on together or attend to help improve quality of life. This can range from filling out government forms or job applications together and body-doubling while doing tasks, to creating healthy meals with few steps, and so much more.

Survivors are welcome to submit an idea of a class or session they would like to lead in the coming months!"

Community Hub Virtual Meetup. Come join us for our first meeting! We are building a hub for brain injury survivors to network, share stories, events and learn together. Meetings will also often include a virtual event. Details on each event will updated regularly.

This is a great article on the impact of screens and posture. More than just talking about the negative effects, it helps you explore how you can sense and feel your body in relationship to the screen better. Well worth the read!

Erik Peper, PhD and Monica Almendras The article was adapted from the recent book, How Technology is Hijacking our Lives, Strategies for Coping and Pragmatic Ergonomics, and was originally publishe…

With slippery leaves and ice around, we are seeing more falls and more injuries in the clinic. Take time to maintain your balance as part of your regular exercise routine. If you need help, let us know.

Balance is something the body learns to do automatically by engaging the postural muscles.

Our clinic is open and able to see patients both in-person and via telehealth. Please call 206-925-3762 and leave a message if you are interested in scheduling or have questions about getting care. Our office staff is working remotely and will return your call as soon as they are able. Keeping everyone safe and healthy is our top priority.

05/01/2020

Here is our update on the clinic. We are continuing to see many of our patients via telehealth. We are grateful that this is an option for many people and is working really well.

We are open for in person visits on a case-by-case basis. Please call the clinic at 206-925-3762 and leave a message if you want to discuss your situation with a PT. Some problems can be assessed appropriately via telehealth and some problems need in person visits. And, some people don't do well with extra screen time, so in person visits may be appropriate in this circumstance as well.

Thanks for your continued support!

Sharing this post and feel free to spread around. I (Lisa) have been fortunate to learn about breathing from experts all over the world, including Dr. Peper. I truly believe that breathing is at the heart of many of the problems we see as physical therapists. Now, more than ever, it is important to understand breathing. Give his suggestions a try!

This blog is based upon our breathing research that began in the 1990s, This research helped identify dysfunctional breathing patterns that could contribute to illness. We developed coaching/teac…
