                                            Passion:
I think that anyone reading this probably has a certain degree of passion for Music, but do you have the kind of passion that will lead you to happiness? I guess no one really knows for sure except you. I know that I love Music, and I have devoted considerable time and money to make it a major part of my life. I love being around musicians, recording studios and talking about Music and the Music Business with anyone who will listen to me. I run several Music-related businesses in the Pacific Northwest. We have completed our sixth album in two years and each one of them was a pain in my ass! But, each album taught me lessons, that I carry over to the next and the next….
I go to school full-time to study the Music Business because I want to know as much as I can about Music and transfer this knowledge to my own business and hopefully this benefits our bands and artists on our label. These people are like Family to me and I want to take care of them as best I can, so I try to continue to learn and grow… not only for me, but for them too.
Some people like to hear me talk as much as I do. I like to tell stories… about what I have done, what I have seen, what kind of successes and mistakes I ‘ve realized. I’m not afraid to tell people how I have screwed up in the past, but I’m always eager to talk about our successes and the exciting things I have planned. I’m happy to pass on any little tidbit of knowledge that I can. It makes me feel good when someone says “Thank you for telling me that, I never realized…”
I have met people who have dedicated their lives to Music and are one paycheck away from being homeless. I have met people who care less about Music but somehow continue to reap the rewards from it. I have stood in awe of musicians who pour their heart out on stage and give full measure, then be given just a few dollars at the end of the night that barely pays for the gas to get home. So much talent, but so few opportunities. Music has saved my life… many times and without it, I would probably either be in jail or dead. That is the primary reason, I started Momma Lynn. My family and I have been Blessed with abundance and good fortune, and I want to give back to Music. I have seen the Power of Music and stand Witness to the amazing things it can do for someone. Those that know me, have often heard me refer to Music as “The Great Healer”. I think that phrase speaks for itself.
When I talk about passion, do you hear me? Do you have passion for Music? If you have read this far, then I think so. Do you feel my passion for Music? Or do you think “Here we go… another rant from Mike”? or “There he goes on his soapbox again”. If that’s how you feel, that’s okay… I’ve heard it all before. In ending this “rant” or “Soapbox Sermon”, I will say to all my friends and family…
“In everything you do… find Passion.”
Mike
