Mouth breathing impairs you more than you realize. While exact percentages vary depending on the study, here are some key findings of it's effects:

Oxygen Absorption Decrease: by 10-20%, as nasal breathing enhances nitric oxide production, which improves oxygen uptake in the lungs and bloodstream.

Brain Function & Cognitive Decline: reducing cognitive function by up to 30% due to lower oxygen delivery to the brain, leading to poor concentration, memory issues, and brain fog.

The Common Thread: Our Humanity

No matter what we have—or don’t—there’s one thing that connects us all: our humanity. Beneath the surface, we’re all navigating the highs and lows of life, trying to make sense of it as best we can. No amount of resource, success, or luck can change this fact.

This is why I believe in holistic wellness—not just to feel good, but to see clearly, to understand ourselves and each other on an honest level. When we prioritize our well-being—mind, body, and soul—we create space to connect, empathize, and grow together.

At the end of the day, life is a level playing field. We all laugh, struggle, heal, and dream. And in embracing our shared humanity, we can lift each other up and move forward with greater purpose and compassion.

Have you ever experienced a moment so profound that it made you feel more alive than ever before—where time seemed to stop, and you felt connected to something far greater than yourself?

We call these moments "peak experiences"—the rare, awe-inspiring moments of joy, wonder, and deep connection. But, we can't allow their meaning and impact to escape us.

As J.K. Rowling beautifully reminds us, "We do not need magic to transform our world. We carry all the power we need inside ourselves already." It’s about tapping into that inner wisdom and harnessing our natural insights.

In the article I offer here, I share how we can integrate these powerful moments into our everyday lives for lasting personal growth and positive transformation.

Thank you Spokane Submission Challenge and Adam Smith for the amazing Professional Jiu Jitsu event last month! It was an honor to be one of the first Gi matches in the pit!!! I did my best but came up short and lost by a takedown.... It's a turning point for my jiu jitsu. I need to utilize my high caliber jiu jitsu and open the game up more. All in all it was an awesome experience and I will be training harder and smarter with many adjustments for the next one. For my next competition: 1) better prep 2) better warm up 3) more jiu jitsu. Thank you Ryan Mulvihill and Danny Mulvihill for being in my corner and helping me elevate myself no matter the outcome. Thank you Master Marcelo Alonso and Professor Ivan Salaverry.
