I'm so immensely proud of my friend, Robert Libbey,on his first book!! I know how hard he has worked on both the book, the research and his courses. Exceptionally well done!! 👏

As many folks prepare to head back to work, or see their massage therapist, chiropractor etc...it's important to remember to self assess, should you have any concerns about new symptoms you may have.

People ask me this all the time and I don’t have an answer, other than it’s where I was meant to be...
I began my massage therapy career training at around the age of three! My dad, being a wise man, had me walking on his back as soon as I could balance and then upgraded his ‘treatments’ to include techniques employed by my brother on his left side and myself on his right side; ‘scratching’, ‘finger twists’, ‘karate chops’ to name a few. The “working on Dad’s back” times were interconnected to touch play with my dad and usually ended with us two kids being tickled into laughing hysterics! The dog often got in on the action as well.
To this day, my dad is my easiest and most favourite person to treat. He and my mum have always valued manual therapy for both injury and injury prevention, including chiropractics and physical therapy.
So, while it took me a while to take the plunge, pay the money and invest the time, I finally began my schooling at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy (WCCMT) in September 2003. After 3000 hours, countless sleepless nights, a lot of laughs, way too many Starbucks visits and maybe a breakdown or two, I graduated the program in December 2005.
After successfully completing my provincial registration, I began working with the amazing Robert Libbey, RMT and remained his “work wife” for a fantastic 12 years. In 2008, he merged his massage therapy practice with physiotherapy, chiropractics and naturopathic medicine. From that point on, I have continuously integrated a multi-modality approach to all of my patient treatment plans.
At the start of 2010, I went back to WCCMT as a Teaching Assistant (TA) and Primary Instructor for several different courses and clinic/outreach opportunities. When Langara College started their massage therapy program in 2014, I made the transition to their campus and became a part of their great instructional team!
In April 2017, I relocated to Seattle, WA and became licensed to practice in early 2018 and went back into the classroom at Cortiva Institute. That’s where you’ll find me today...downtown Seattle, still with a Starbucks in hand and a laugh or two with each and every patient!
