I'm excited to unveil Riverbank's new logo and website!

Our new logo and website design was created by , who are amazingly thoughtful, smart, intentional humans that I super admire. It was such a gift to collaborate with them on this project to create a visual for Riverbank Therapy that aligns with who we are and what we're about.

In reflecting on our practice's vibe, which is rooted in community, curiosity, and quality, we talked about how I want clients at Riverbank to feel. I spoke with them about wanting you to feel supported and held throughout the entire process, from initial contact with our admin staff to your sessions with your therapist. I want people to feel a sense of growth, hope for change, and a deep compassion and care from us.

From the Sullivans: "I wanted your logo to have that sense of being held, to have heart, growth, and the theme of the constant flow. Your logomark then is subtly in the shape of a heart with a river running through it, creating growth in the form of a leaf, held together by caring hands. Yes, that’s a lot to combine in one logo, but I think we’re there -- Deep heart, space to feel held, a sense of growth, and the recognition of and inspiration from constant flow."

I'm obsessed! Don't miss my link in bio to head to our updated and beautiful new website 😍 we've got therapists with immediate openings, btw! 🌟

Swipe to read about what you and your therapist might talk about if you do share that you're suicidal. Head to my posts from yesterday and the day before for more like this, or my highlight on SI to hear me (from years ago, time travel!) talk about this. I encourage you to talk to a mental health professional if you are suicidal. Or call the crisis line, 1-800-273-8255.

Its su***de prevention month this month. Ways to prevent su***de:
▪︎
☝️Fight mental health stigma to increase the likelihood that people seek help. This means talking about mental illness and su***de, using compassionate language, and learning about mental health. The more we normalize mental health concerns, the more people will get the support they need.
▪︎
✌ Decrease access to means for su***de attempts. Individually, this can mean taking/locking up possible means like sharps, medications and fi****ms. This also must happen on a societal level....Let's talk about gun control. More than half of su***de deaths occur by fi****ms, and nearly two-thirds of firearm deaths are su***des (not homicides). We know that restricting access to means of su***de reduces risk, and guns are the most lethal means--reasonable gun control laws will help reduce su***de rates.
▪︎
🤟Increase social support. Reduce isolation and promote belonging for *everyone* and su***de rates will go down. When we are well connected and feel loved, su***de risk is greatly decreased. Individually, this means care for and check on your people. Culturally, this means fighting discrimination, prejudice and oppression.
▪︎
4️⃣Share resources so help-seekers know where to go for support. Psychology Today, Open Path, NAMI are all great places to start searching for a therapist or support group.
▪︎
🖐Advocate for mental health services. Vote for and support measures that increase access to mental health care.
▪︎
➡️➡️More detail on all of this on the blog.
▪︎
If you're worried about someone, talk to them! If you can, support them in finding the help they need. Great places to start to get help are a Psychology Today search in your zip code, Open Path for low cost counseling, and the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline (24/7) 1-800-273-TALK or the Crisis Text Line text “home” to 741741 for 24/7 crisis support.
