Stress - YOU have it, I have it, WE all have it. In these modern times, it is damn near impossible to find even ONE person that doesn’t experience at least some level stress in their daily life.
🤷🏽♀️So, what can we do about it?
❤️Exploring this piece of foundational health entails asking the question “Who or what is filling up your cup when it is empty?” Maybe it’s a favorite hobby, a self-care routine, a pet, a person, or even a network of people.
In fact, when we feel stress, our bodies naturally crave support from other living creatures! Crazy evolution hack if you ask me!🤯
🧠 Oxytocin is a neuropeptide deemed the “love hormone” that gives us a feeling of connection & belonging and is actually released in great amounts during childbirth!🤱🏾This same hormone is released during the stress response and may be our body’s way of telling us we need some TLC from those around us.
🙇🏻♀️But HOW we perceive our stress can also make a difference in our overall health!
💡Researchers have found that those who perceived their stress as harmful were MORE likely to suffer the negative effect & complications of stress compared to those who did NOT view their stress as harmful. This means that reframing your thoughts about stress can change your body’s response to it!
A great teacher of mine once shared a video that sums this up perfectly. Go to Youtube and search “Rabbi Lobster Stress” (yes, you read that right 🦞😋). It’s a ~1 minute video that offers a helpful perspective for the next time you feel uncomfortable or “stressed out”.
🌿Here are some other natural options for helping to manage stress that I will be sharing more about in future posts:
✨Slow, intentional, deep breathing techniques.
✨Adaptogenic herbs aka herbs that strengthen your response to stress & help you build resilience!
✨Physical medicine tools like massage therapy & hydrotherapy (water as therapy!)
Speaking of stress relief, it’s a 3 day weekend baby! How are you refueling this labor day weekend? Let me know in the comments below 👇🏽❤️
