Building a Sustainable Body: Hands-On Techniques for Interpreter Longevity

When: Friday, August 22, 2025
11:00 am - 2:00 pm (Pacific Time)

In this workshop, learners will be exposed to a multitude of modalities for monitoring, managing, and rehabilitating work/stress related injuries to the musculoskeletal system. Participants will learn concepts related to the fascial system as it relates to sign language interpreters. The content of the workshop will center around stretching/fascial release techniques, strengthening routines, proper ergonomic principles, and mindfulness integration for overall interpreter career longevity. Workshop will be conducted in Spoken English.

• Exercises to support muscles
• Signs of muscular tension
• How to release fascial adhesions
• Develop a movement routine
• Information for long-term physical wellness
• Prevention of overuse injuries

Presenter: Dr. David C D**e is a Certified National Interpreter with a Ph.D. in Kinesiology and a Master’s degree in Biomechanics.

Target Audience: ASL to Spoken English Interpreters, and non-native ASL users.

DHH Baby? Now What? Join HSDC’s ASL Nursery!

We understand that building your ASL skills takes time. That’s why our ASL language nest provides your baby with full access to rich, visual language right from the start.

HSDC’s Rosen School is expanding! Beginning September 2025, our licensed full-day childcare program will include a brand-new classroom just for infants—serving babies from birth to 18 months in a nurturing ASL-immersive environment.

Space is limited. Priority enrollment for Deaf, hard of hearing, and CODA children.
