Psoriatic arthritis won’t always show up on an MRI, but the good news is that diagnosis isn’t dependent on imaging. We can diagnose PSA using your symptoms, medical history, and a physical exam, regardless of what your MRI shows.

If you’re currently working with a provider who’s not giving you a diagnosis because nothing is showing up on imaging, we’d be happy to work with you to provide a second opinion. You an book a consult with us at https://www.ariaintegrative.com/appointments/

Without the benefit of more information, we have a couple of ideas:

1️⃣ Joint damage from previous inflammation will continue to hurt even if your inflammation is down.

2️⃣ Depending on what markers your provider is testing, they might not be capturing all of your inflammation. In other words, just because the inflammatory markers you had tested are normal doesn’t mean that there isn’t other inflammation that isn’t being captured in your labs.

3️⃣ You could have a hypersensitized nervous system if you’ve been in pain for a prolonged period of time, which means your body is so used to recognizing pain that it’s going above and beyond to do so.

We’re happy to chat with you further, review your labs, and even work with your current provider to explore additional testing options. Schedule an appointment with us at the link in the comments!

March is Autoimmune Awareness Month. Approximately 10% of people in the US live with autoimmune diseases, but that number grows every year. This is, in part, because more awareness leads to better trained clinicians, better diagnostic options, and, as a result, more diagnoses.

As a clinic that focuses on autoimmune conditions and chronic illness, our team at Aria Integrative knows how important it is to increase visibility around these conditions. More visibility and knowledge leads to more research, more treatment options, and more relief for our patients.

Anosmia — a loss of smell — affects millions of people, and can impact your safety and mental health. On Anosmia Awareness Day, we wanted to bring attention to anosmia (and hyposmia, a partial loss of smell), and specifically how it’s connected to various autoimmune conditions.

If you’re dealing with anosmia or hyposmia and are worried it might be related to an autoimmune condition, we’re here to help! Reach out to us at the link in the comments.

How do you know if you have MCAS? Dr. Windsor dives into the symptoms of MCAS, the diagnostic criteria, and what tests your provider will need to run to determine whether you’re dealing with MCAS or another condition.

If you’re experiencing challenges with histamine and think they might be MCAS, we’re here to help! You can make an in-person or telehealth appointment with Dr. Windsor at the link in the comments.

If you’re in perimenopause and feeling like your brain has basically stopped working, you’re not alone! Dr. Fariba talks hormone changes, how that impacts your brain function, and treatment options to help you manage the hormonal roller coaster.

We love B12 as a treatment for histamine conditions, but it’s not the right treatment for everyone — at least not at first. Dr. Windsor talks about possible side effects, what causes them, and how to work B12 back into your treatment plan over time.
