The TL;DR is that if you have all the symptoms AND a family history of other autoimmune diseases like Sjogren’s, it’s likely that you have lupus, even if your bloodwork is coming back negative. We see seronegative lupus in about 10% of our lupus patients, but studies indicate that it’s present in up to 40% of lupus patients overall. Our recommendation? Find a doctor who’s willing to investigate beyond the bloodwork, because you’re going to have to dig deeper and look at more diagnostic criteria to get a diagnosis.
