This , we’re proud to recognize the compassion and dedication of social workers like Northwest Kidney Centers' Maha Al Khateeb.

At Northwest Kidney Centers, social workers are vital members of our care team, helping patients navigate dialysis and maintain the best possible quality of life. They provide education about kidney transplantation, collaborate with doctors on patient care, and offer support as patients and families navigate the emotional challenges that can accompany kidney disease.

For Maha, the work is rooted in connection and compassion. She believes every person deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued, and she brings that perspective to each conversation with the patients and families she supports.

We’re grateful for Maha and for all the social workers who help strengthen our kidney community every day.

Former home dialysis patient Gabriele Ellis knows how much the right support can matter. While managing dialysis at home, she worked closely with her care team at Northwest Kidney Centers to successfully move through the transplant approval process. In October 2025, Gabriele received a kidney transplant and began the next chapter of her care!

Gabriele’s story shows what’s possible when nurses and clinic staff work together toward a shared goal. This National Kidney Month, we’re proud to celebrate patients like Gabriele and the teams who support them at home, in the clinic, and every step along the way. 💙

March is National Kidney Month, a time to raise awareness about kidney health and recognize the people living with kidney disease every day.

At Northwest Kidney Centers, exceptional care means putting patients at the center of everything we do. As a nonprofit, we focus on each person’s unique needs, offering strong communication, wraparound support, research opportunities, and care teams who go above and beyond throughout the kidney journey.

We’re proud to celebrate patients like Adrian, who began with in-center dialysis and later received a kidney transplant, along with the dedicated care teams who provide steady support throughout treatment.

“Every time I come to the clinic for dialysis, the staff check in with me about my transplant progress. When I have questions, they help me find answers quickly.” – NKC Everett Clinic patient.

Northwest Kidney Centers’ Everett Clinic is making kidney transplants more accessible for patients. In 2025, the clinic doubled the number of patients actively listed for a kidney transplant!

Led by an interdisciplinary team—including Social Worker Merih Mehari, Dietitian Kim Langdon, Nurse Manager Charmaine Abero, and Dr. Laura Mayeda—the staff works together to provide step-by-step support, address barriers, and keep patients engaged throughout the transplant approval process.
