August is National Minority Donor Awareness Month, a time to spotlight the urgent need for organ donors within diverse communities. Chronic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure—more common in minority communities—contribute to higher rates of kidney failure, especially among African American and Hispanic/Latinx individuals. Today, more than 100,000 people are on the national transplant waiting list, and nearly 60% are from minority backgrounds.

By raising awareness and encouraging organ donation, we can help close this gap and bring hope to those waiting for a life-saving transplant.
