In addition to many years providing LGTBQ-health, Dr. Rongitsch has had a long-standing interest in holistic medicine. She has formalized this education by completing a two-year fellowship for physicians in integrative medicine through the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine-University of Arizona. Capitol Hill Medical (CHM) wants to give a shout out to one of the founders of CHM, Vy Chu MD (he/him). During residency he completed a rotation at the San Francisco City Clinic, a downtown public health clinic on the forefront of the management of gender-affirming care as well as HIV and STD medicine. This inspired the foundation of CHM in 2008. Skip ahead 13 years later and Dr Chu continues to provide care to his patients at CHM and he feels that the best medical decisions are “trustworthy, made possible through open communication, education and in many cases, compromise.” Thank you, Dr Chu, for being at the forefront of LGBTQ+ health and founding CHM. On June 1st 2021, President Joe Biden signed a Proclamation declaring June as Pride Month! There is so much work to be done for equality across this country for the LGBTQIA+ community, our community, the Capitol Hill Medical Community. This month we reflect upon the progress and accomplishments so far, but look forward to a better future. We will continue to do out part in supporting the health of the LGBTQIA+ community!

Happy Pride Month from Capitol Hill Medical!

As a cis-gender gay male who was fortunate enough to come “out” almost 20years ago and live my truth, I am thankful for so much. I could not be here today providing primary care for the LGBTQIA* community without the hard work of so many before me. Those courageous individuals endured so much and started to push open the door for equal rights! There is still much to be done in awareness, acceptance, and far more in inclusivity. Take time this month to educate yourself and others, spread awareness, attend political rallies or pride events, or celebrate your LGBTQIA* family in what feels right to you. 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️
