In honor of the Spokane County Sergeant who was tragically killed in the line of duty this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and the entire Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

K9 Ruben, a loyal narcotics detection dog with the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office and the Columbia River Drug Task Force, has been diagnosed with cancer. This devastating news came suddenly, followed by emergency surgery that resulted in the loss of his front right leg.

Despite the pain and uncertainty, Ruben is recovering with courage, strength, and that same determined spirit he showed while protecting our community for nearly a decade.

Ruben’s next steps include:
🐾 A critical oncology consultation at Washington State University
🐾 A six-week chemotherapy regimen at Cascade Veterinary Clinic
🐾 Physical therapy, hydrotherapy, and recovery tools to help him adjust to life on three legs

Finally got to present Raquel Lackey with a flag that was custom made by Flags to Remember in honor of the late Hope Dog Pickles. At a fundraising event for Seattle Mountain Rescue
Raquel and Pickles brought comfort to countless first responders and others through the years and we are grateful. Rest easy Pickles.

UPDATE: Ruffles has been found and is ok!!!

Attention!!! Anyone in San Juan Island who is willing to help search for Hope Dog Ruffles, all hands are needed. Ruffles is a chocolate lab. She and her handler have poured their hearts and souls into bringing comfort to first responders across our state. All on a volunteer basis. If you’re available, Ruffles was last seen chasing a deer near the DNR land.

We are saddened to share that Seattle Firefighter Joseph Palombi was involved in a serious vehicle collision earlier this week while on his way to work. He is recovering in the hospital and is in critical but stable condition. Joe’s family appreciates the outpouring of support from those close to him. Joe is assigned to Fire Station 28 on Ladder 12. We are surrounding him with love.
