PT spotlight: Conlan Brown, PT, DPT, OCS

Conlan works with runners and active adults who want to keep training without constantly managing pain. His approach is thoughtful, evidence-based, and focused on helping you move better long-term — not just getting through the next run.

Great fit for runners dealing with:
• Overuse injuries & recurring aches
• Knee, ankle, or hip pain
• Return-to-run after injury or surgery
• Strength training to support running goals

If you’re looking for a PT who understands running demands and builds a plan that actually makes sense for your body, Conlan’s a solid choice.

🔙

From an early love of anatomy and movement to trying just about every sport (with soccer winning her heart), Laurie’s path to physical therapy started long before grad school.

After experiencing PT herself for patellofemoral pain, she became fascinated by taping techniques and began shadowing her high school athletic training staff. From there, it was clear - this was the path. Laurie played soccer through college, earned her Athletic Training certification, and went on to complete her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Her own experiences with concussions and the neurological demands of sport shaped the way she practices today - integrating specialized training to treat the body as a whole.

We’re lucky to have her 💙

We had the pleasure of meeting with from yesterday and loved learning more about their approach to training and community care.

We highly recommend if you’re interested in:
💪 Semi-personal training in a supportive group setting
🎯 Individualized programs tailored to each person’s goals
👶➡️👵 Training across the lifespan — from youth to older adults
📍 Multiple locations across Seattle, making strength training more accessible

We’re always excited to connect with like-minded people who believe in meeting others where they’re at and supporting long-term movement, strength, and health. Looking forward to continuing the conversation and finding ways to support our shared community 🤍

Sunny days are a good reminder to move with intention ☀️

Here is PT Nicole Lerch demonstrating Wall Clock exercises -

This exercise challenges shoulder stability, trunk control, and coordination while keeping tension through the band as the hands move on the wall.

Throwback Thursday 🏃‍♂️
Conlan’s love for running started early. From sprints and jumps in high school to racing nearly every distance - from the 55m dash all the way to a full marathon - track & field sparked his fascination with movement. That curiosity eventually led him to pursue his Doctorate in Physical Therapy, where helping others move better became the goal.

Cold weather can make muscles feel extra stiff ❄️

If your hamstrings and calves feel tight this winter, nerve glides can help restore mobility without aggressive stretching.

Move gently, stay warm, and keep your body gliding.

Keep the progress going - just because you have completed PT doesn’t mean the journey ends. Our wellness services are here to help you stay strong, mobile, and feeling like yourself long after discharge.

Come back in, say hi to the dogs, and let us support your next chapter at Stride.

❄️ Back in the gym after the holidays usually means things feel a little stiff — especially when pressing.

This bench press primer helps cue posterior shoulder recruitment, so your shoulder can stay more balanced and actually help produce force during horizontal pressing.

This is especially helpful when you’re easing back into heavier loads after time off.

One thing to watch for:
Try not to arch through your lower back to “find” the movement. Stay controlled and let the shoulder do the work.

Save this as a simple warm-up before your first upper-body sessions of the year.
