A few years ago I registered ‘Green Room Acupuncture’ as a DBA (Doing Business As) under Pontrello Acupuncture PLLC. I had the idea 💡 after seeking acupuncture on tour, while simultaneously noticing a lot of the bigger venues had a bunch of empty rooms similar in size to where I was practicing community acupuncture at home. Acupuncture is such a powerful tool to manage pain and stress, and it has the ability to remind a person an inner sense of calm that exists within that is too easy to lose touch with (especially while on the road). The idea is to bring the mobile clinic backstage at venues/festivals for artists, crew and guests. This weekend at was Green Room Acupuncture’s debut and proof of concept. Thanks for the opportunity to bring this idea to life!

Most people associate liver problems with alcohol use, but did you know that non-alcoholic fatty liver is considered a silent epidemic in America? It affects approximately 25% of our population. Why is it silent? Because it is asymptomatic and you only know you have it through specialized test that most people don’t get. While fatty liver doesn’t become a problem for all who have it, it can be a prerequisite for many other health problems in the category of ‘metabolic syndromes’ from diabetes to liver cancer.

If you have fatty liver, then you are familiar with monitoring ALT & AST via blood tests. These enzymes are markers for liver scarring. This study shows a connection between ingesting a concentrated dose of of pu erh, and the lowering of the enzymes that are biomarkers for liver scarring. Drinking pu erh is no replacement for your doc’s advice, or losing weight which is the main treatment for fatty liver, but I’ll definitely be having a cuppa tea today!
