Are you or a loved one struggling with depression, anxiety, low self-worth or shame and guilt issues. If you are experiencing a emotional crisis, stuck in unhealthy relationships, or caught up in behavioral addictions or unhealthy and self-destructive behaviors, psychotherapy can help. Therapy should be a safe place to explore the depths of your humanity, celebrate your culture and identity, and allow your most positive self to surface. Therapy gives you the safety and support to gaze into the shadows, and shed light onto the dark places. The ultimate goal of therapy is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. my name is Ismael Gerena, a licensed associate mental health counselor and marriage and family therapist in Seattle Washington. Indigo Mental Health is the name of my private practice, where I serve individuals, families and relationships as clients. As a counselor I believe my primary strengths as a therapist lie in being open to the experience of those I serve, a refined empathy and awareness of overt emotional context and physical cues to the unspoken emotions in conversations. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and I believe the counseling session is a place of learning—an exchange of knowing and questioning. I have 8 years of behavioral health and counseling experience including previous licensure as a Professional Counselor and a Mental Health Treatment Specialist. Early in my career I worked in community mental health, with developmentally disabled adults, and as a youth counselor for at risk young adults age 13-24 who identified as GLBTQ.
