Haven't released a podcast episode since December 2023, but wanted to record one immediately when I found out that David L. Gee and Ethan Bergman were retiring.

Today is a day to celebrate 2 nutrition stalwarts in Washington State, as we celebrate the retirement of Dr. David Gee (43 years at Central Washington University) and Dr. Ethan Bergman RDN (38 years at Central Washington University). Both have been influential on a state and national level winning awards, conducting research, educating the future dietitian and food service professionals, and being involved as volunteers. When I found out they were retiring, I wanted to jump on and record a podcast episode to thank them for their years of service and give them their flowers 💐🙌🏽.

3 years ago I released my 1st nutrition YouTube video to celebrate Asian American & Pacific Islander ( ) Heritage Month.

It is a 53-minute video showcasing 7 fellow Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and their foods from around Asia and the Pacific Islands and was truly a joy to put together. This was a collaborative effort and I appreciate them for the discussing the foods of their countries:

Episode 30 features Hernando Planells

One of the world’s most well-traveled and experienced coaches, Hernando has built a career and reputation on constructing teams and working with them to unlock their inner potential. He has spent the past 20 years working with some of the best athletes (NBA G-League, Slam Ball, Duke University, University of Illinois) and actors on the planet (Adam Sandler, Channing Tatum and more).

Coach H also hosts the Be Contagious Leadership Experience, a highly-rated podcast where his conversations with thought provoking guests share thoughts and experiences pertaining to leadership and inspiration!

We also share the same last name, and so we have a half Colombian and Filipino and a half Cuban and Vietnamese Planells conversing. It felt like I was talking to myself - was truly a pleasure to chat, and look forward to eventually going on his podcast as well.

So, made Part 1 of a 2-Part YouTube video on Men in Nutrition. I reached out to a number of guys I know and 20 men contributed to this group project. This 1st video is their personal stories of how they entered the field of nutrition and dietetics, as well as what they are currently doing in the field.

What I love is that the video showcases diversity in a number of ways - age, ethnicity, background, and jobs/career paths.
