Leafy Greens and Cruciferous Vegetables
How does eating more leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables help you detox?
Dark green leafy vegetables are rich in vitamins, minerals, fibers, and chlorophyll, which can help bind toxins (like heavy metals) and export them out of the body.
Cruciferous vegetables help produce more glutathione in the liver which helps detoxification. They also contain indole-3-carbinol (I3C) which helps decrease bad estrogen from the tissues. This, in turn, can help prevent cancers (like breast and prostate).
Leafy greens include arugula, chard, kale, dandelion leaves, spinach, collard greens, and mustard greens, most of which are in season right now. Cruciferous veggies include broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, brussel sprouts and bok choi.
Eat them cooked, rather than raw, for better digestion!
