Our Story

Baraka’s story isn’t only about an individual journey to sinus health, it’s about building a business that cares more about people and our planet than it does the “bottom line.” We hope this story will inspire you to visit our website, read our blog, and seek out other small businesses.

When conventional medicine couldn’t help

Owner Sue Libby began having sinus congestion when she moved to Sonoma County, California in 1996. Nothing relieved the sinus pressure, and she was increasingly miserable at night. She was sent a neti pot as a wellness gift. For weeks the tiny “teapot” sat in her bathroom. Finally in desperation, she tried it. The relief after once rinse was so great, she began telling everyone. Her entrepreneurial spirit kicked in, and she decided to make a better ceramic neti pot right here in California.

Red Hot Ceramics started in a friend’s llama shed. Sue couldn’t afford to have them manufactured, so she taught herself ceramics. In the morning she would make neti pots, and in the afternoon she’d make sales calls. Within a few years, Red Hot Neti Pots were selling in herbal stores, coops and natural grocery stores all over the US.
