It's a bummer that our brain is always leading our awareness to problems.
It does this because it believes every small problem is a threat to our survival. And the brain has evolved for millions of years to do just one thing, keep us alive.
The problem here is that in today's world, we don't face many primal problems. There are no tigers in the bush waiting to kill us. There are only intellectual problems like what is someone going to think about me if I say this.
The brain doesn't know the difference, so it elevates every problem to be a threat to survival. And it's been running this program for thousands of generations.
So rather than let the brain's default state cause you stress and anxiety and overwhelm, we get to add intention to our self talk and show ourselves that in this moment, there are no problems.
This process starts with becoming an observer of your thoughts, and ends when you are able to craft an intelligent response to your thinking, rather than react on autopilot like you have been doing your whole life.
You can not control the first thought that pops into your head, but you can always control the second.
The most powerful moment in time is the space between an event, and your reaction to it.
Is your thinking bringing your down and getting in the way of your goals, dreams, and aspirations?
You are not alone. Most everyone suffers from this.
But those that have learned how to overcome these automatic negative thoughts are the ones enjoying happiness, peace, joy and fulfillment.
