At HCA Florida Healthcare, demonstrating our commitment to communities means investing in their future — and that begins with supporting our youth. Through our continued partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America across the state, we are proud to back programs and spaces that help children and teens grow, succeed, and dream bigger.

As part of Day 2 of our , HCA Florida Kendall Hospital sponsored a total renovation of the playroom at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade. This space has now been transformed into a colorful, safe, and inviting environment where kids can play, learn, and form lifelong friendships. The joy on the children’s faces and the heartfelt gratitude from Club staff served as reminders of the power of community and connection.

Our commitment to the next generation goes beyond early childhood. Through initiatives like The Pathway to Success program, we help prepare teens for college and careers by giving them first-hand experiences in healthcare. In partnership with organizations like the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida, students participate in job shadowing, hands-on demonstrations, and one-on-one discussions with HCA Florida Healthcare professionals. These experiences inspire students and open doors to future opportunities, providing the tools and encouragement they need to move forward confidently.

Whether it’s through renovating spaces that foster creativity or providing career-building opportunities, we are proud to support the next generation as they discover their potential. Discover the continual impact HCA Florida Healthcare is making on the Sunshine State: https://bit.ly/40EAGF2.

Today marks the start of our — a time to pause, reflect and honor how our more than 84,000 colleagues and 11,100 physicians care for our patients and communities.

One of those moments came when Stephen Cloutier collapsed before a routine pickleball game. He wasn’t breathing.

His partner, Eliza Duade, recognized the signs of cardiac arrest, called 911, and began CPR. Paramedics rushed Stephen to HCA Florida Englewood Hospital. Stephen was taken to the cardiac catheterization lab and closely monitored in the intensive care unit.

“They were prepared. There was someone with him every step of the way,” said Eliza. “I know it’s their job, but to us, it’s a miracle.”

Thanks to Eliza’s quick action and expert care, Stephen made a remarkable recovery — and soon returned to the court.

Cardiac arrest strikes without warning, but immediate CPR can double or triple survival odds. As Florida’s largest cardiovascular network, we’re here to keep heart care close to home.

When a patient trusts us with their care not once, but twice, it truly speaks volumes! We're incredibly grateful for our patients, and even more so when they share such touching feedback. Barbara, who had a knee replacement with us two years ago, recently returned to Highlands for a total hip replacement. Her recent testimonial perfectly captures the exceptional, comprehensive care provided by our dedicated team:

“I am impressed with the fabulous care I received. My nurses in the orthopedic unit, Teresa, Monica, and Jace, were comforting, kind, witty, knowledgeable, professional, and infused just enough humor in their ministrations. They worked hard to make my transition to home health care easier, and helped me in a wheelchair during discharge. They kept me comfortable. Raffy, my physical therapist, was totally awesome. His personality is contagious. He brightened my day. Kass at registration was very professional and discreet, especially so early in the morning. Nurses Holley, Carrie and Michelle gave me excellent care as well. Thank you Dr. Chaudhri, my orthopedic surgeon, for doing an awesome job. You rock! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

On this , we’re sharing the power of teamwork in action! We'd like to introduce you to Daniel, one of our amazing patients who recently experienced the collaborative efforts of our orthopedic and rehab teams after having surgeries on both knees. Here's what he had to say:

“Dr. Alvarez replaced my first knee and Allan, the physical therapy and rehabilitation director, was there waiting on me when I got out of surgery. In recovery, he made me walk down the hall, which I thought was crazy but naturally, I did really well. I was back to work in two and a half weeks.

I’ve worked with five or six of these therapists, and what I like is how much they care. You come here and they pay attention to what you say. I’ve known about four or five guys that have come here for physical therapy and we have all bounced back so fast. They have the knowledge, the equipment and the care. These guys know what they’re doing. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else. I recommend HCA to anyone needing physical and/or occupational therapy.”

When a patient needs emergency abdominal surgery, every moment counts. We're proud to share a recent story where Dr. Arora, our skilled general surgeon, utilized minimally invasive, robotic-assisted surgery on Gregory, the patient, to provide precise and rapid care.

Gregory’s sister, Mary, was at his bedside throughout his care, and was completely blown away at the culture our team prides itself on. Here’s what she had to say:

“We could not have asked for a better doctor than Dr. Arora. He gave me an in-depth look and understanding of what happened, and explained everything. I was amazed. My brother arrived at night and Dr. Arora worked on him till 1AM.

In recovery, when I needed something, Maryann, an occupational therapist, stopped what she was doing and got it for me. All of the nurses and therapists have been so sweet and nice. The dietary staff has also been amazing. The way everyone talks to each other is so positive.”

—Mary, sister of Gregory
