On March 6, families and communities across the country come together for Black Balloon Day to honor those lost to overdose. Overdose is the leading cause of accidental death in the U.S., but together, we can create change. Join in spreading awareness and supporting those impacted by substance use disorder.

URGENT: Critical Substance Misuse and Mental Health Funding Terminated 🚨

SAMHSA grants were terminated immediately and WITHOUT warning. This sudden decision is already disrupting vital mental health and substance use services that communities depend on.

These cuts included $2 billion in funding cancelled(reported by NPR), putting people at risk, threatening local jobs, and contributing to worsening health and economic outcomes across communities nationwide. No community should lose essential services overnight.

We are calling on Congress to step in now by:
✔️ Suspending all grant terminations
✔️ Restoring affected funding
✔️ Demanding transparency and answers from SAMHSA and HHS
✔️ Ensuring this never happens again

📣 Take action today:
Please contact your U.S. Senators and Representative. A quick call or email can make a real difference. Ask them to demand answers and take immediate action to restore or pause this funding.

This situation is urgent—and your voice matters.

🔃 REPOST FROM

According to The Guardian, A new advisory released by the US surgeon general said alcohol use is the third leading preventable cause of cancer in the US after to***co and obesity. The advisory revealed that alcohol use contributes to nearly 100,000 cancer cases and about 20,000 cancer deaths each year. It also found that alcohol-related cancer deaths shorten the lives of those who die by an average of 15 years.

So as the month comes to an end, remember that Dry January isn’t just about one month—it’s about building sustainable habits that last!
