March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Colorectal cancer is a cancer that starts in the colon or re**um, which are parts of the digestive system. Unlike most cancers, colorectal cancer is often preventable with screening and highly treatable when detected early. One in 24 people will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer in their lifetime. It is the No. 4 most common cancer in the U.S. among men and women combined. If you are 45, it’s time to talk to your provider about screening.

Congratulations to our February Employee of the Month, Austin Freed. On his way to work, Austin Freed noticed someone lying in the street near the hospital. He pulled over, realized they were not breathing and immediately began CPR, staying until emergency responders arrived.

His quick action and willingness to step in during a critical moment reflect the heart of our mission and commitment to caring for our community.

The pain of pregnancy loss is devastating.

Jasmine Shepard came to Bothwell looking for care close to home and a provider who would truly listen, and found both in Dr. ShiAnne Farris at Bothwell Family Medicine Associates. After two heartbreaking losses, they kept searching for answers together… and that journey led to a healthy baby boy, Derek.

Read Jasmine’s story and see what family medicine with obstetrics (FMOB) care can mean for families right here at home.
