Heckart Funeral Home & Cremation Services

Heckart Funeral Home & Cremation Services Heckart Funeral Home and Cremation Services is locally owned by Jeff and Megan Page. Among the options for end-of-life services is a life celebration.

Heckart Funeral Home & Cremation Services takes pride in providing a place of peace, comfort, and warmth. They want their home to be like a second home to your family, where you can gather and feel comfortable catching up and sharing memories. The spacious funeral home has large event rooms as well as a funeral merchandising room, a large parking lot, and handicap-accessible amenities. Since 1918, the team has served the people of Sedalia, MO, offering the only crematory in the city. They have helped families from all backgrounds, regardless of circumstances or financial budget. Heckart Funeral Home & Cremation Services wants to provide you with affordable options for funeral arrangements. You can plan a viewing where family and friends can say goodbye to their deceased loved ones before the funeral. And after the funeral, you can have an intimate graveside ceremony where people in attendance can receive ultimate closure, watching the casket lower into the ground. A cremation service with a memorial ceremony is available and is similar to a funeral. A memorial ceremony can take place anytime convenient for the family, without having to rush to bury the body. Direct cremation is the most budget-friendly option, as it does not include a service and the required funeral products that go along with that. This is a time to gather in a more casual setting, play music and dance, watch a tribute video, and reminisce over the deceased hobbies and talents. The funeral planning team can guide you through the process, no matter which program you choose. In addition, funeral products can be found on display, including caskets, urns, memorials, and vaults. Heckart Funeral Home & Cremation Services loves to serve the people of Sedalia, LaMonte, Hughesville, Houstonia, Smithton, Mora, Green Ridge, K**b Noster, and Cole Camp. They are experienced in arranging military honors and veteran services for those who qualify. They also know that death is a difficult time and can help with grief resources. Whether you would like to pre-plan your own funeral services or start on last-minute planning, let Heckart Funeral Home & Cremation Services help. You can visit the home at the convenient location of 903 S Ohio Ave Sedalia, MO 65301. Or you can call to schedule an appointment at (660) 826-1750.

Our Story

In 1918, Ernest Gillespie founded the Gillespie Funeral Home. Mr. Gillespie believed that personal and professional service, quality merchandise, a modern facility and fair prices would create a desire for his services.

In June of 1948, Del and Stella Heckart along with their daughter, Sue, moved to Sedalia after purchasing the Gillespie Funeral Home.

Over the years the Heckart family has seen many changes take place in Sedalia, but they have embraced the same beliefs and traditions that Mr. Gillespie started in 1918. Many improvements have been made to the funeral home to better serve the community. Remodeling has made the facilities more comfortable and convenient. In 1975 a major building addition was completed. This included a foyer and church-like chapel with seating for over 300 people. A ground level approach to the chapel allows for an accessible entrance. A carport was also added so families can arrive at the funeral service in privacy and comfort, and have easy access during inclement weather. Ample private, off-street parking is provided on the east side of the chapel.
