The Bitter Truth About Pumpkin Spice Lattes

🎃☕ Pumpkin Spice Latte season is here, but before you indulge, it’s crucial to know the not-so-sweet truth about these fall favorites. Here are some reasons why Pumpkin Spice Lattes are far from a healthy choice. UNLESS YOU MAKE YOUR OWN ;)



Excessive Sugar: Pumpkin Spice Lattes are loaded with sugar. A typical serving can contain over 50g of sugar!!!! Excessive sugar consumption can lead to weight gain and various health issues aka inflammation, brain fog, decreased energy and more.

Artificial Flavors: Many Pumpkin Spice Latte syrups contain artificial flavors and colors, which may not be ideal for your health.

Caffeine Overload: PSLs often contain a significant amount of caffeine. Consuming too much caffeine can lead to sleep disturbances, increased heart rate, and anxiety.

Low Nutritional Value: These lattes lack essential nutrients like protein, vitamins, and minerals. You’re essentially consuming empty calories with little nutritional value.

Lack of Real Pumpkin: Despite the name, many Pumpkin Spice Lattes contain little to no real pumpkin, which means you’re missing out on the potential health benefits of this nutritious vegetable.





Ingredients

1/2 cup coconut milk full-fat
• • 1 cup Swiss water process coffee dark brew (decaf)

2 tbsp pumpkin puree canned
1/8 tsp cinnamon
• • 1/16 tsp nutmeg (1 pinch)

1/16 tsp allspice (1 pinch)
1/16 tsp cloves (1 pinch)
1/4 tsp vanilla


Instructions

Brew the coffee and let it cool down slightly.
Add all the ingredients to a blender.
Pulse and blend for about 10 seconds.
Pour into 2 coffee mugs – enjoy!
