It may not be who you think. The film No Address shines a powerful light on the realities of homelessness—reminding us that every story deserves compassion, dignity, and hope.

My 2-year-old granddaughter spent the morning immersed in nature with her parents picking (and taste-testing) fresh strawberries and cherries straight from the source. Seeing these photos reminds me how deeply nourishing it is to connect with our food in this way.

Self-care strategies allow us to maintain and improve our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Self-care can take many forms and will look differently for every person.

How did I show up for myself today? I daily carve out 60 minutes to be active outside. This is what I did from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM:

1.) I exposed my eyes to morning light for the first 10 minutes of my walk to help regulate my internal clock. Then I donned my sunglasses for eye protection. I expose my eyes first thing in the morning when I wake up, but I also want to get outside throughout the day, even if it is just for 5-10 minutes. By doing so, my brain's master clock will correctly send hormone signals to promote energy and relaxation based on the time of day or night.

2.) I put on my Omorpho weighted vest to add extra resistance to make my muscles work harder. There are many benefits to wearing weighted vests during exercise: stimulates bone growth, improves muscular strength, and improves cardiovascular endurance. This was my most recent love purchase for myself and investment in my health.

3.) I listened to something that motivates and inspires me: The Peter Attia Drive Podcast. There are times I choose to use my walks to be in the moment and take in my surroundings; there are other days I like to use my brain and learn while I walk...this was one of those days!

We want to remember that what we put ON our body is as important as what we put IN our body. I was checking out a cosmetic brand in a local grocery store and wanted to make sure the ingredients used did not pose a risk to my health or to that of the environment. Chris Kalinich, the owner and Food for Life Instructor, offers a variety of classes which center around evidence-based nutrition education complimented with practical life application to teach individuals and groups the joy of whole food, plant-based cooking. She also offers personalized culinary classes in a boutique style format to guide individuals to achieve their health goals. She is a Plant-based Culinary Instructor, a Certified Food for Life Instructor through the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a Nutrition Coach Practitioner for the Healing Consciousness Foundation, and a MSVA-certified Vegan Lifestyle Coach & Educator. She is a founding board member of Healthy World Sedona and serves on the Sedona VegFest Planning Committee Team which also hosts the Sedona Health & Nutrition Conference. She is a guest presenter for cooking demonstrations with Natural Grocers and holds a B.Sci. in Education from Northern Arizona University with career experience in corporate training and academic advising.
