Monday 12/21/2020 Winter Solstice and great conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius
“I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.”-Sarah Williams
The Winter solstice is sacred as it marks the first day of winter with the longest night ushering in Capricorn season. In Pagan times the Yule, the winter solstice, was a celebration of the Goddess…of moon energy. It was believed that on this night, the moon would give birth to the sun.
This year the celestials will come together in a rare alignment to give birth to a new era, the Age of Aquarius. Jupiter and Saturn will be at the same early degree of Aquarius creating a great conjunction on this very auspicious night of the Yule. What will be birthed will be a future that will belong to the people. These planetary structures will support us in understanding that the well being of society is about the collective, not just the individual.
2020 has been full of hard times, losses, isolation, restrictions and tough lessons learned. Saturn, Jupiter and Pluto have been at their very last degrees of cold, tough Capricorn hitting points of same degree (conjunctions), retrograding over these points (revisiting) and hitting them again (releasing).
Saturn (ruler of Capricorn) the task master concerned with tradition, authority, discipline and strict boundaries has been very comfortably asking, “Have you learned your lessons yet?”
Jupiter the great expander concerned with bringing light to things, the big picture and our higher purpose has been burdened with telling us, “Hey, we can’t expand and be our greatest till we learn Saturn’s lessons.”
Pluto the transformative energy that comes from going to all the dark scary places of our souls and facing them…wrestling with them…embracing them in order to transform like the phoenix rising from the flames has been holding our hands through all this darkness saying, “We need to transform…we need to learn Saturn’s lessons so we can be stronger, wiser, braver on the other side.”
And here we are, collectively standing on the precipice of positive change. A new Aquarian Age with a focus on friendships, community, communication, new innovations, advancements on technology and a bright beautiful focus on humanity. We have truly endured the dark night of our collective souls.
With all this invigorating new excitement we still find ourselves in the darkness of this first day of winter. Use this beautiful long night for solitude, for reflection, for envisioning. Journal on all your silver lining moments that you had this year and ask where you felt abundant (Jupiter). Look for where you are stuck, where your roadblocks are (Saturn) and envision the craziest, most radical out-there action (Aquarius) you could take to move past them. Remember that it is only in the darkest of nights that the stars can truly shine.
