This weekend, we had the privilege of supporting a very important cause at the Great Strides walk at Borderland State Park. This is an event that helps raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Jack's Pack came out on top with the most money raised for the entire event! Positive Synergy was so proud to be part of Kate and Jack's journey.

Introducing our December Staff Spotlight, Kimberly!

Tell us about yourself and how you got into OT

I always knew I wanted to work with individuals of differing abilities, but for the longest time, I couldn't find a field that was the right fit. First, I wanted to be a doctor, but after shadowing one I felt like I didn't get to spend as much time with my clients as I wanted. Then I ventured into psychology because behavior fascinates me, but I found it to focus too much on the external and not enough on the internal experience. Around this time I watched a documentary about Gabby Giffords recovery from a traumatic brain injury and they highlighted all her rehabilitation professionals. As I looked into OT more I found it to be the perfect mix of everything I was looking for in a career.

What makes Positive Synergy such a special place to work?

Positive Synergy is the most collaborative place I have ever worked! Everyone is so open to new ideas and willing to learn from each other across disciplines. The level of creativity and curiosity among our staff is just something that you don't see everywhere.

What do you like to do in your free time? Hobbies? Activities? Secret talents??

In addition to psychology, I also have an undergraduate degree in technical theater. I worked professionally as a costume designer on and off for 10 years before making the switch to OT full time. Now I mostly use my sewing skills to make my own clothing and repair our weighted animals at the center.

Who we are

We are a private group of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) and highly trained and experienced Behavior Technicians located in Seekonk, Massachusetts. We believe that together, with families and others involved in a child’s care, we can affect positive changes in the lives of the children with whom we work. We also believe in the importance of community education, about the field of ABA, as well as autism spectrum disorder. We were founded in April 2014. Our founders share a common vision of what ABA should look like: individualized, positive, and effective. Since its foundation, Positive Synergy has grown with exactly that vision at heart, gaining several more members with the same mindset and goal of changing lives for the better.
