Blacida Hernandez was born on February 3, 1938 in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She passed away October 4th, 2025, in Seguin. Texas, surrounded by her family at her side.

Blacida was a kind and loving soul. She taught us the importance of family love and hard work. She had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved. Her kindness left an unforgettable mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Blacida is the fourth child of 12 children. She leaves behind 9 siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also leaves behind a longtime companion, Froylan Campos and 6 children Jesus Silva (Yadira),Delia Lazo (Alonso), Juan Gutierrez (Dora) Norma San Miguel(Robert) Mirta Vasquez)Marcus) and Dora Elia Gutierrez as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

On behalf of the whole entire family. We would like to thank Guadalupe regional hospice for all their hard work to ensure comfortability in her home, the care they gave went far beyond responsibility, full of compassion that made her final moments peaceful and full of love. We would also like to thank family and friends who showed compassion, love, and prayers through this process,

Visiting hours will be Thursday, October 16th at Palmer Mortuary from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 6 p.m.

Visiting hours will continue Friday, October the 17th at Palmer's starting at 8:30 a.m. We will proceed to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. where mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.

Luis Ramos Rodriguez

Luis Ramos Rodriguez, born on June 12, 1935, in Nixon Texas, passed away on October 8, 2025 in El Campo Texas, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, family love, and community service. A dedicated worker in the cotton industry, Luis drove module trucks for several cotton gins in Crosbyton and Post, Texas. His contributions extended beyond the wheels of his truck; he played an instrumental role in building several cotton gins across various states, reflecting his commitment to both his profession and his community.

Luis had a profound appreciation for family, cherishing every moment spent with them. He treasured family gatherings, which filled his heart with joy as he welcomed "their babies" into his home. His enduring love for his late wife, Lydia Moreno Rodriguez, was a defining aspect of his life. After her departure to be with the Lord, Luis carried a deep sense of loss, yet he remained devoted to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandson.

Together with Lydia, Luis found pride in being active members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where they participated in numerous groups, sharing their faith and values with their community. Their enduring bond was evident in their shared journey until circumstances led him to El Campo, Texas, to be with his daughter and son-in-law.

Luis is survived by his loving family, including his children Brenda Rivas (Ramiro), Luis Rodriguez Jr., and Susie Davila (Jerry), grandchildren Ruben, Scott, Rachel, Anthony, Estrella, and Nicolas, and great-grandchildren Alex, Makyla, Jay, Raegan, Hunter, River, great-great-grandson Santiago, and sister Maria Ramirez as well as many nieces, and nephews. He joins in eternal rest with his beloved wife, Lydia, as well as their daughter Raquelita, brother Lupe, sisters Juanita Ramirez, Dora Riojas, Rosa Moreno, and his parents, Manuel and Anastacia Rodriguez.

The services to honor Luis will take place at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Seguin, Texas. Visitation will begin on October 13, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM, followed by a Rosary at 9:30 AM. The funeral mass will follow at 10:00 AM, and his interment will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery at 11:00 AM.

Pallbearers: grandsons Anthony Rodriguez, Nicolas Davila, Ruben Storie, Scott Storie; great-grandsons Alex Quintero, Jay Quintero, Hunter Storie, River Storie.

Luis Ramos Rodriguez will be fondly remembered for his unwavering dedication, love for his family, and the warmth he brought to all who knew him. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched in both his personal and professional spheres.

Megan Lyn Monterastelli

Megan Lyn Monterastelli, born on April 24, 1992, in Oakland, California, passed away on October 6, 2025, in New Braunfels, Texas. She lived a life full of love, compassion, and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Megan was a Registered Nurse in the Cath Lab at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, a profession that reflected her heartfelt commitment to caring for others. She took immense pride in her work and cultivated meaningful connections with her patients, who adored her as much as she cherished them. Her journey into nursing began with her educational pursuit, culminating in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) that laid the foundation for her fulfilling career.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Megan was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and friend. She embraced every role with enthusiasm and grace, sharing her vibrant spirit with family and friends alike. Megan's ability to bring laughter to those around her was a hallmark of her personality; she had a beautiful spirit that was evident from childhood.

Megan's adventurous side shone through in her early years when, at just four years old, she taught herself to ride a bike, showcasing her courage and willingness to try new things. Her love for the outdoors and music was evident as she often sought out trails and parks, immersing herself in nature’s beauty.

She is survived by her beloved children, Manuel (Manny) Garcia, Skyler and Kimber Monterastelli, husband Terryl Monterastelli, mother, Marie Valdes, and stepfather Mike Valdes; her father, Eric Hayes, and stepmother Jennifer Hayes; her sister, Candace Sparks; and brothers Eric, Brayden, and Carson Hayes. Megan also leaves behind her cherished nephews, Spencer and Rowan Hayes, as well as her grandfather Manuel Blasini, and her grandmother Bonnie Robles and her husband Leo Robles. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by a wide network of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She will always have a special place with Emilio Chaveria.

Though Megan is preceded in death by her grandmother Jacqueline Blasini and grandfather Robert Wessel, her legacy continues through the deep connections she forged throughout her life. Being a mother, daughter, friend, and nurse were undoubtedly her proudest accomplishments. The warmth she exuded and the joy she brought to life will forever be remembered by those lucky enough to have known her.

The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Palmer Mortuary from 4pm to 8pm.

Visitation will continue on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Palmer Mortuary from 9am to 11am and a funeral service will begin at 11am. All services will conclude in the chapel on Thursday and cremation will follow.

John Mertz Sr.

John Mertz Sr., a beloved figure in the Seguin community, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on February 19, 1951, in Seguin, Texas, John spent his entire life in the town that he cherished so deeply.

John was a devoted husband to his wife of 52 years, Cecilia Lopez Mertz. Together, they raised a loving family that included their children Jesse A Valdez (Lupe), Lisa A Rodriguez-Mertz (Irma), Rebecca M McHaney (John), Rachel M Leal (Andrew), and Johnny Mertz Jr (Carolyn). He took pride in being a grandfather to his 16 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 25 great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories with each generation.

He is also survived by his siblings MaryLou Deardorff (Don), Henry Mertz Sr. (Joann), Sylvia Sanchez (Jesse), Melinda Villareal, Berta Soria, and Willie Mertz Jr (Petra). John was a pillar of support and love for his family, always relishing the times spent together, particularly while watching the Cowboys play and barbecuing—two of his favorite pastimes.

John is preceded in death by his father, Willie Mertz Sr., and his mother, Mary Lou Mertz Hinds, who instilled in him the values of hard work and community spirit that he carried throughout his life.

The family will be honoring John's life with pallbearers including Nat Rodriguez Sr, Mike Rodriguez, B.J Rodriguez, Oscar De La Cruz, Chris Oates, and Timothy Hardeman. Honorary pallbearers are Henry Mertz Sr, Willie Mertz Jr, and Cesario Guadarrama III.

The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of Gifted Hearts Hospice for their compassionate care during John's final days. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on through the countless memories shared with his family and friends.

The family will receive condolences on Monday, October 13, 2025 at Palmer Mortuary from 4pm to 8pm. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 6pm.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and interment will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery.
