David Holt, founder of Hemetech, Inc., and past President of AmSECT, shares what an honor and privilege it has been to work in a clinical field that benefits, both directly and indirectly, so many patients dealing with America’s greatest killer, heart disease and it’s ancillary pathologies. David's journey into and through perfusion includes:
· Attended Ohio State University as an undergraduate then entered their Circulation Technology program after accidently “discovering” Clinical Perfusion;
· Worked as perfusion assistant at Columbus Ohio’s Mount Carmel Medical Center while a student;
· Employed at Ohio State’s University Hospital, Riverside Methodist Hospital, and MedFlight of Ohio;
· Founded Hemetech, Inc. for clinical consultation and perfusion education;
· Attained a Master’s in Adult Education with an emphasis of Technology in Educational Methods from Ohio State University,
· Attained the position of President of American Society of ExtraCorporeal Technology (AmSECT) and achieved a professional goal of strengthening the society’s commitment to perfusion education;
· Joined the Faculty at Ohio State University’s Circulation Technology program, advancing to Program Director at University of Nebraska’s Clinical Perfusion Education program;
· Retired at the end of 2021 with 45 years in perfusion. David's specific focus was that of a professional life dedicated to perfusion education. He directly touched the lives of more than 600 individuals in their quest to practice competent perfusion.
David, thank you for your many years of making a profound difference in the lives of your patients and colleagues.
