We have been made aware of a recent social media post regarding an individual observed sitting on a headstone (taking a break) while cutting the grass in the Sellerburg Cemetery.
First and foremost, we want to acknowledge the concerns expressed by members of our community. We understand how important it is that our cemetery grounds are treated with the utmost respect and dignity at all times.
Upon learning of this situation, we immediately contacted the landscaping company responsible for maintaining the grounds and addressed the concerns that were brought to our attention. While we fully understand how this may have appeared, we are 100% confident that there was no intention of disrespect by the individual involved.
We would also like our community to know that prior to hiring this company, they were thoroughly vetted. The company is owned and operated by firefighters, and their team is made up of individuals who serve our communities daily with integrity and respect. This incident does not reflect their character or the standards they uphold.
That said, we have reiterated our expectations to ensure that all work conducted within the cemetery continues to reflect the level of dignity and care that our families deserve.
We truly appreciate the community bringing this to our attention, and we remain committed to maintaining a respectful and well-kept resting place for all.
