Oakwood Center is a beautiful retreat facility where transformational leaders and organizations gather, vision, practice, plan, rest and renew.

Oakwood Center is a host retreat facility and learning community for individuals, families, and organizations dedicated to personal renewal and healing, artistic expression, and community building. Programs offered at Oakwood are designed to promote greater awareness of our natural and cultural heritage, and encourage healthy, environmentally responsible lifestyles. We strive to preserve, enhance, and protect the biodiverse natural areas of prairies, wetlands, and woodlands on and surrounding our campus along the White River. We welcome others to share this rich natural setting for renewal and discovery.

You are invited to join us for a creative & full

Drum Weekend

These rhythms represent ancient African practices of celebration of the season of life. The joy with in them & the magic of life!

During the weekend we will be doing Sinte, Yankadi/ Macru, Balady, doun doun & djembe classes

And a lots more

You will also learn soloing techniques, rhythm breaks intros to rhythms and more.

There will be a Saturday night open stage open mic.
Bring something to share with the group. Music, dance, poetry or collaborate with fellow students. Definitely some free form drumming & dance!

We have a few rhythm experiences to share with you to enjoy.

Friday to Sunday October 17th-19th

We can't escape the world's madness, but we can slow down and activate ancient tools -- singing, beauty-making, ritual -- and embody "we-making" practices that sustain us through hard times. Join me in September for the Harmony and Harvest Retreat at Oakwood Retreat Center in Selma IN. SUMMER HEAT DRUM RETREAT

This will be the 4th annual immersion into the world of djembe music taught by the Director of Tam Tam Mandingue - Chicago, Taylor called the Summer Heat Drum Retreat. There will be several classes per day, a DRUMeditation, an open mic night, storytelling around the fire and lots more great stuff. This all takes place in the beautiful grounds of the Oakwood Farm retreat center in Selma, IN. You can have a private or shared indoor room or camp and use indoor showers and bathrooms. It will be Thursday to Sunday, but there will be options if you can’t do the whole time. This year will be extra special as the Summer Solstice happens during the retreat; this same date is when Grand Master Drummer Mamady Keita transitioned to the realm of the ancestors in 2021. During last years DRUMeditation there was clear signals from the non-manifest realm that Mamady was there with us as I am sure he will definitely be this time.
