Summer is drawing to a close, and it's time to return to school. The beginning of a new school year can be stressful for students, like meeting new teachers, being exposed to germs, and even carrying heavy backpacks. Here are some tips to keep your student healthy and ready for the new school year
1. Choose the Right Backpack- Make sure your child wears their backpack correctly. Wearing the backpack with just one shoulder strap might be "cool," but it may misalign your child's spine, resulting in backpack back pain. Your child's straps should fit over their shoulders and not extend past the beltline.
2. Avoid Germs- Regular chiropractic adjustments help keep your child's immune system functioning properly, giving them the best chance at fending off colds, viruses, and bacteria. The nervous system regulates the immune system, and the nervous system is within the spine. When the spine is aligned, effective communication can occur, and your child's immune system will be able to fight off germs better and recover faster if they fall ill.
3. Teach them Proper Posture- When staring at a screen or doing their work all day, it is important to ensure that your child practices proper posture. Hunching over the desk and slouching can cause neck, shoulders, and back issues. Encourage your child to maintain correct posture at the desk. For example, they can prevent the head from tilting over the shoulders by having a stand that tilts toward them and keeps their book at eye level.
