Thank you Rowena with Body Resonance Myofascial Release for this wonderful post! This is why I love collaborating with airway providers that understand the connection between tension in the mouth and throughout the rest of the body! The jaw and the pelvis have a direct relationship with one another.

TMJ isn’t just about the jaw… and treating it like it is can be why relief doesn’t last.

The jaw and pelvis are deeply connected through the fascial system — one continuous web that distributes tension, movement, and compensation throughout the entire body.

So what happens when we only treat the jaw?

You might feel temporary relief…

But if the pelvis (and the rest of the body) is still holding tension or imbalance, that pull can travel right back up — recreating the same symptoms.

This is why TMJ can feel like a cycle:

✨ Jaw pain improves… then returns

✨ Clicking or tension comes back

✨ Neck, shoulders, or even hips stay tight

Because the root cause was never fully addressed.

The body doesn’t work in isolated parts.

My heart is heavy today as we lost our brilliant and loving pioneer and father of Myofascial Release. John Barnes was an amazing teacher, therapist, and mentor. He changed my life, my career, and taught me so much. I am forever grateful for being able to learn from him and for the impact he made on my life. We will miss you John. 💔 😢

Did you know that MFR is very helpful for babies with lots of different conditions? The earlier we see these tiny humans after their entry into the world, the better we can help them live and function to their optimum. I am blessed to be able to help these families thrive. Myofascial release creates symmetry of the body, alignment of the bones, eases tension, decreases inflammation, and helps regulate the nervous system. Check out the changes in this sweet baby in just one MFR session. Parents consented to these photos being posted.

In the before photo, observe the strong midline pull and tension in her face (look at forehead and between the eyes, as well as the position of the eyes). Also notice the tension in her upper lip (lip blister and lip being pulled up), as well as low tongue posture and open mouth breathing. Look at the after photo at how much more relaxed she looks, how everything looks much more symmetrical and open! The eyes are more relaxed, the midline pull has greatly diminished, the upper lip tension has decreased, there is less open mouth posture, and her ears look freer too!
