I’ve seen older adults with perfect lab results fall apart because they woke up with nothing to move toward… and I’ve seen people in their 70s outlift 40-year-olds because they still had something that pulled them forward.
Purpose is the quiet organ we never scan the one that decides whether you rise or slowly collapse. Muscles shrink faster when the mind has nothing to chase. Joints stiffen quicker when life stops giving you reasons to stand tall.
People say aging is the enemy, but the real enemy is drifting.
You don’t decline because you’re getting older.
You decline because you stop having a why.
Choose your purpose.
A trail to hike.
A grandchild to keep up with.
A weight to lift.
A place you still want to see.
A version of yourself you refuse to abandon.
Purpose keeps the body alive.
Movement keeps the purpose alive.
Everything else is maintenance.
