๐ข Important Message from Blue Ridge Pediatrics LLC โ Measles Update
Hi everyone โ Dr. Gully here. You may have seen the news โ measles is spreading in our community, especially in the Upstate of South Carolina. As of this week, **South Carolina has reported about 126 confirmed measles cases, nearly all linked to the Upstate outbreak, and hundreds of people are currently in quarantine due to exposure. Of those infected locally, the vast majority are unvaccinated.

๐ Why this matters:
โก๏ธ Measles is one of the most contagious viruses we see โ if youโre not protected, you can catch it just by being in the same room, even hours after someone with measles was there.
Powers Health
โก๏ธ Nationally, the U.S. has seen nearly 1,912 confirmed measles cases this year, the worst outbreak in decades.
CDC
At Blue Ridge Pediatrics, our vaccination-required policy is intentional: it helps create the safest healthcare environment possible for the kids who need it most โ newborns, medically fragile children, and those who havenโt developed immunity yet.
๐ Vaccines work. MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination is about 97% effective when the full series is given, and itโs our best tool to keep measles from spreading.

We know these numbers can be concerning, and weโre here to support you with clear, evidence-based information. If you have any questions about measles, vaccination, or protecting your child, please reach out or talk with us after watching. โค๏ธ
Thank you for trusting us with your childrenโs health and safety.
