We had such a fantastic time celebrating a true piece of our community’s history!

Thank you to Sarah, President of the New Dungeness Light Station Association, for sharing such an engaging and inspiring presentation about the beloved New Dungeness Lighthouse.

We loved learning about the lighthouse’s rich maritime history, the dedicated keepers who have cared for it over the years, and the unique Keeper Program that continues to preserve this incredible landmark.

In fact, we had so much fun that we’re thrilled to announce Sarah will be joining us again in August for another presentation, so mark your calendars!

Thank you to everyone from the community who joined us. Events like this remind us how special Sequim is and how meaningful it is to come together to celebrate our shared history.

We have an exciting activity planned for our residents at Sherwood today.

As part of our "Hero Series", we will have the local fire department visiting to show our residents vintage and modern fire trucks, share about their jobs, and answer questions. They may turn on their sirens or demonstrate other features of their trucks.

We were inspired by a recent fashion show, where models of all ages and abilities confidently walked the runway in fashionable adult diapers all to challenge the stigma surrounding incontinence.

Whether temporary or long-term, incontinence affects people of many ages, and it shouldn’t be a source of shame. This show is a bold reminder that dignity, confidence, and style are for everyone regardless of age, ability, or diagnosis.

You can live well, be confident, and feel good in your own skin, and sometimes, that starts by normalizing what others are afraid to talk about.

Have you heard about Grandma Gatewood? Emma "Grandma" Gatewood left her house in 1955, at the age of 67 to hike the Appalachian trail.

Emma took minimal supplies which she carried in a denim bag over her shoulder. She didn't take a sleeping bag or tent but instead slept on piles of leaves and kept dry under a shower curtain.

Hiking the 2,000 plus mile trail, she became the first thru-hiker (male or female) to complete the trail. She later went on to complete a second hike on the A.T. trail and 2,000 miles of the Oregon Trail.
