Ava’s Trivia Night Fundraiser

Ava Stubblefield has Spina Bifida and recently had an appointment at Boston Children’s Hospital to evaluate her current condition. Here is a summary from her Mom: Ava’s spinal cord was re-tethering (becoming constricted and strangled by scar and fat tissue). She had a cord detethering surgery shortly after we brought her home from China in 2009. I just wasn’t prepared to hear the extent of involvement. Dr Warf told us that at this point, spinal surgery is a necessity and soon before more damage is done. Assuming that her precious gymnastics would never be possible again, Ava completely broke down with Mom and Dad soon following. Dr Warf reassured her that while she should stop immediately, it is only temporary until after surgery. His hope is that if we do it right away, she might even regain some lost function!!! He said his goal is to get her back in gymnastics and even stronger than before! So, in January, we will travel back here to Boston for 10 days for surgery and recovery. We are at complete peace with the care she will receive here and we have no doubt that God has placed people in our lives that have led us to this point. Also, so thankful for a coach that recognized some subtle changes as well!! We will be having a trivia night fundraiser for Ava in order to raise money for any expenses that may arise.
