At Cranberry Psychological Center, we believe healing doesn’t come from perfection—it comes from being real.

That’s why we love the work of GLOW PGH, a women-centered dance experience rooted in joy, connection, and collective wellness.

GLOW creates spaces where movement becomes medicine, mental health is honored, and community feels safe, empowering, and alive.

Our struggles are more common than we think.
And when we speak them out loud, they lose their power.

This is a space where you are safe to be human.
Where honesty is welcomed.
Where growth begins when we’re brave enough to be seen. ✨. Give them a follow

Train the Mind. Elevate the Game. 🧠⚽

At Cranberry Psychological Center, we know that youth sports are about more than physical ability. They’re a powerful space to build confidence, resilience, and a healthy mindset around competition.

✨ Key sports psychology skills for young athletes:
• Process over results – Growth, effort, and learning matter more than wins and losses.
• Coping with pressure – Breathing techniques, positive self-talk, and refocusing help kids stay calm and confident.
• Motivation & self-worth – Celebrate dedication, teamwork, and persistence—not just performance.

💡 Parent & coach tip: Try asking “What did you learn today?” instead of “Did you win?” It keeps the focus on development, not outcomes.

Want support tailored to your child’s sport or age? We’re here to help young athletes build mental skills that last far beyond the game. 💙

🖤 Black History Month Spotlight 🖤

We want to spotlight some pioneers in the mental health field during Black History Month. First, let’s talk about Dr. Mamie Phipps Clark who was a groundbreaking psychologist whose research on racial identity and self-esteem in Black children helped shape the Civil Rights Movement and contributed to the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision.

Her work reminded us that mental health is deeply connected to identity, belonging, and representation.

This month, we honor pioneers who paved the way for culturally informed mental health care — and we reaffirm our commitment to providing compassionate, inclusive support for every individual and family.

Black History Month is a time to honor resilience, strength, and impact—but also to acknowledge the mental and emotional toll of systemic stress, trauma, and inequity.
Mental health matters in every community. Seeking support is not weakness—it’s an act of strength and self-preservation.
This month, we honor history by supporting healing.

❄️ Snowed in? Let’s take care of your mental health too.

Being stuck at home can be cozy… or it can feel isolating, overwhelming, and stir up stress. If you’re snowed in today, try a few small things to protect your mental well-being:

☕ Keep a simple routine
📱 Limit doom-scrolling
📝 Write down what’s on your mind
🚶‍♀️ Move your body (even inside!)
💬 Reach out to someone

Snow days slow us down — and sometimes that’s exactly what our minds need. If you’re feeling off, you’re not alone, and support is always available.

Today we reflect on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose vision of justice, compassion, and equality continues to guide us. At Cranberry Psychological Center, we believe that mental health care is a human right, and that creating space for healing, understanding, and connection is one way we honor that vision.

As Dr. King said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Today, and every day, we remain committed to supporting the emotional well-being of our community and advocating for care that is accessible, inclusive, and compassionate for all.

Sarah Banks LPC, NPC was recently interviewed on the news about Shaking off the post-holiday blues. Here are some tips. Avoid New Year’s resolutions as they can often lead to feelings of failure and a mindset of “I have to” rather than “I want to” • Be intentional about finding joy. • Reframe your thoughts from “I have to” to “I get to” “I get to spend time with my kids” or “I get to go on a walk.”• Seek out new experiences and opportunities, like snow tubing, skiing, going to a movie, or having a game night.• Look forward to small moments of excitement and spend time with loved ones doing enjoyable activities.

Social Media & Mental Health

Social media can help us feel connected—but it can also impact our mental health in ways we don’t always notice.

✨ Constant comparison
✨ Pressure to appear “perfect”
✨ Doom-scrolling and information overload
✨ Increased anxiety, stress, or low self-esteem

Taking breaks, setting boundaries, and being mindful of how content makes you feel can support healthier habits online.

If social media is affecting your mood, sleep, or confidence, you’re not alone—and support can help. Therapy offers a safe space to explore these feelings and build healthier relationships with technology.

💚 Your mental health matters—online and offline.
